#7 - start light failure It wasn't a failure. Some teams had worked out that the lights were operated by a remote signal. They had worked out the frequency and tuned radios to pick it up. Those drivers would know the lights were about to go out just before they go out, and as a result get the best start possible... But no one knew who had the radios. The 'lights out' process was started, a mock signal was sent, and the drivers/teams with the radios (jumped the start) went on the signal even though the lights hadn't gone out.
