When I saw the 50 years of Hip Hop performance, I’m damn near fell to the floor!!! Seeing all the performances, was the highlight of the show. I grew up listening to all of them.
Salute to the old and the new school artist that’s representing the culture. The 50 year Grammy honor was just teaspoon serving. We need a televised concert tribute starting from the birth of HIP-HOP showcasing every generation to now. That would be monumental. We continuously keep proving to the world that no other genre can touch HIP-HOP! And just think when HIP-HOP started radio and record companies didn’t want no parts of it. “LOOK AT THEM NOW”.
Problem is these new artist don't represent true Hip Hop culture or the 5 elements MCing, DJing, BBoying, Graffiti and Knowledge!!! Gangbanging isn't an element, doing drugs isn't an element, wearing dresses and chokers isn't an element!!! It's sad, they don't even show respect to the pioneers like Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick, Beastie Boys, Kool G Rap or Biz Markie!!! Not even showing love to he 90s MCs like Wu-Tang, Nas, Biggie, OutKast, The Roots, etc!!! It's a sad state of music r is ght now. There needs to be a musical revolution in the Country!!
Hip hop is not art.
I 100% agree this could be its own special!! There is so much music to be represented!! I think it would be one of the biggest watched broadcasts on television!!! Please let this happen before we lose anymore legends!❤❤ #ILOVEHIPHOP
50 YEARS OF THE BIGGEST GENRE IN THE WORLD! 🌎 HIP-HOP 🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶
Hip-hop was good from the 1980s to the mid-2000s at best.
That's not saying much, the whole show's stunk !
How is it the biggest? It peaked in the 90s but it’s not so great anymore.
Cramed into 3 seconds
This was the best performances I did not expect to see 💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
I want a full video of this to rematch Over and over.
Me too
Hands down you're the winner 🙌🙌🏆
F
Watching this made realize how much I miss real hip hop.
u just not tapped in to the new school like that
The HIP HOP SALUTE WAS THE BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE SHOW ❤
omg the best part of the night!!!! bringing me back to high school days and dance battles!! Queen Latifah, NWA, Salt N Peppa Run DMC "word"!!
The past hip hop from the 80s and 90s is and will always be the best hip hop this brought back my child hood ❤
If you want to talk about the best part of the show was when Busta rhymes cut it up You're not messing with him They don't see him He can still flow He was playing on head tops Lol 💯
@Anthony Arcanum Sanctum Regnum I agree 👍
He's been on my top five all time greatest Emcess for about 32 years now, Since the Leaders of the new school till today!
The best part of the show
Lmao you are all delirious. Busta fkn bombed and you still clapped. Lmao
444
@deckzone3000 You know better. Stop. The. Madness.
@Aby C'mon now... lol
Literally the worst part.
LL Cool J is still the man
@Legend just joking
@Legend you're welcome 💪
@Legend I'm into women not men so I don't know
Melle Mel 💪
Born in the 1970
Seen the evolution first hand raised in southside Queens
So much young talent came out of Brooklyn and Queens atnd Bronx
Southside Jamaica queens forever
Busta Rhymes & LL
Still lyrically amazing Over 30 years and counting
Should've watched the Grammys this year. It seemed fun and people who actually deserved to win, won. Great talent. Everyone deserved their wins. THIS is what i missed in music
Hip hop 4ever !!! This was amazing , I'm so proud of the culture ,I caught some feelings during this prefromance , one luv hip hop we made to 50 years 💥💥💥🔥🔥🔥👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
0:01 - 0:18 such a beautiful and powerful intro! ✨🎶✨👑Forever Life to Hip Hop Music 🎶✨🥰
That tribute was epic. Periodt.
We show up to show out!!!! 💯 But everybody did they thang!!!!! 50 years of hip hop ! ✊🏾
This was the best part of the Grammys. #MoreOfThis!
LL made inner city girls look like queens he made the things everyone said was negative like fake hair, bad attitude and standing at the bus stop positive attributes he loves. First rap sex symbol why? He made us feel like queens! Said he did not like stuck up but down to earth women called them round a way girl and married one married over 25 years.
yeah, but so did the Jungle Brothers, Heavy D., and Big Daddy Kane
@blush baby Nah, just you as I take it you belong to the same hair club then 🤣.
@Sky Walker He looks wayyyyyyyy better than you. LL is gorgeous and always has been
Probably more to do with his being conscious of his baldness. That's why you NEVER see his head exposed.
They made hip hop. Great performances
I would have liked for the Bestie Boys to have performed but also a tribute to James Brown would have been great since he is basically the major influence for many hip-hop artists.
I forgot about them but for sho you can't overlook their contribution! They brought the rock, wreckless, party attitude to the game. And JB was sampled by 95% of the early rappers
Seeing Queen Latifah made my year. I love her.
Hip Hop legends are part of this show!
I absolutely loved this performance. Black excellence at its peak!!!!!!!
This is simply a hip hop that simply doesn’t exist anymore. No performers or music like this in recent generations. Forget about styles that change and evolve…there are no more powerful voices or deep dark timbres like this…
Off course music is supposed to evolve but things like Bad Bunny can be considered more an involution.
I was screaming the whole time. Except at the end. The hype kinda died on the crowd too 😂. So many ppl were missing. Florida wasn’t represented. Luke, Trick, and Trina should have definitely been there. Where is bone thug???? They need to run this back next year. But I was soooo happy to scareface!!!!! He doesn’t normally get recognized. QUEEENNNNN!!!!! Idk how the audience kept it together!!!! So much royalty on that stage
Congratulations To The Rappers For That Brightligth Presatations In This Grammy I Saw Wow ☺️💪
This was everything!
I thght I was rocking out at a concert. U couldn't tell me NOTHING! I need this to available everywhere.
Busta is a freak of nature, man. Amazing!
When they had all the rappers come out … that was so damn cool
BETTER LATE THAN NEVER. Didn't WATCH IT BUT I WOULD HAVE IFNI KNEW ABOUT IT AND THEIR PERFORMANCES.
I was on the floor. This was the best grammys in a long time. Stevie wonder etc
When I saw the Grammy Awards it was LL Cool J Flavor Flav and Chuck D of Public Enemy Queen Latifah I just want to say I'm proud of you cuz Busta Rhymes have did an awesome job because they made history
I want to see the whole thing! This looks very cool 😎.
At the risk of sounding like a "boomer", Lil Baby and GloRilla's performances just reminded me that Hip-Hop ain't what it used to be!
@Jheri Curl Jankins I love hip hop especially from the 80s to 2000s but we gotta look at things objectively.
@Jheri Curl Jankins It’s popular today not because of how good it is but because it’s what young people today listen to and they don’t exactly have good taste. Hip hop is the new pop. It’s what’s on the mainstream now. The kids who have good taste actually listen to other genres and music from the past.
Because, in it's infancy, music fans and most of the industry alike never rooted harder for a genre to fail as they did for Hip-Hop (We can get into a lot of the reasons why but that's a discussion for another time). It was written off as just another fad that was gonna come and go just like Disco but here it is 50 years later and not only is it still thriving, it's the most popular genre of music in the country. 💯
Hip hop was great in the 80s-2000s, not so much now. Tribute was unnecessary. Rock music made it past 50 years (with actual musical instruments involved) so why wasn’t there a tribute for it?🤔
Agree, but hey, that’s what these yung cats be listening to, we getting old!!😂
I might be a underground rapper but hey I can proudly say I'm apart of this 50 honorable Hip-hop history rather I blow or not or get discovered by more fans today or tomorrow.... Big Nuke Ambassador Now Streaming
No you aren't
Busta did NOT come to play. Queen Latifah is simply EVERYTHING, LL took me All the way to childhood memories and this right here was a complete vibe. I was a little disappointed that Lil Kim and MC Lyte weren't included but hey still an excellent performance by all.
THE hip hop performances was THE BEST OF THE WHOLE SHOW THAT HIP HOP STOLE THE SHOW LAST NIGHT IT WAS SO GOOD..THIS IS THE BEST IT THIS WAS THE GRAMMY'S..YES YES
This was the best of last nights Grammy’s. !
This should have been a 2 hour freaking show.
Legends🔊🎤
They turned the grammys into the source awards... fuckin amazing
Two of Hip Hops' greatest hits were not included...Rob Base (It Takes Two) and Doug E Fresh (Show Stopper) I know they didn't have time for all but those two songs were crazy lit in the 80's!!!
My bad I must have went when I went to the bathroom
@Miguel Estrada rakim was there 🙄🙄🙄🙄
@Miguel Estrada Rakim performed.
And Big Daddy Kane
You forgot Rakim,KRS-1 .
I love how queen Latifah performs don’t call me a bitch but then Too $hort comes out and says what’s my favorite word “bitch” 😂
The energy level went to zero when the new rappers performed.
Facts
old head activity
Because the beat is completely lame and there's no flow.
real BLACK Grammys this year, I love this so much for us 🥹🤎
The grammies are hollyweird
@Aby no 😂😂
@NorthPhilly cuz they taken over by yt ppl
How do you do a Hip Hop tribute without No Limit, Cash Money, Bad Boy, or Death Row?
I don’t claim to know all history but I do know Rappers delight was the first rap song I ever heard
This was amazing
❤️👏👏 all these artists from years pass deserved this moment, each of them. So many other greats missing too. Also Nicki Minaj is the Queen of Rap ❤✨✨✨
@Sky Walker yes, it seems like this was mostly honouring the kings and queens of hiphop past, with some current acts involved too. I imagine, like LL cool J said, they will do something else like this with more current kings and queens, of modern hiphop in the future. They first had to give these respects of course
Not
Uhh, a hard NO...
She came much, much, later though.
Damnit I missed it. I need to find the full performance. I bet these youngsters watching had to look up about 90% of those artist. Lol
@J Wade That is funny. I still say she was a better rapper than she is an actress.
Bro. My young co-worker didn't know Queen Latifah started out as a rapper. I was trippin'😆
same. My cable suddenly has area outage at that moment, lol.
2:15 when Busta rhymes spoke Hieroglyphical facts i felt that.
YOU KNOW EVERYONE JUST STAND UP AND WAKE UP PLEASE ALL THE HIP HOP PLEASE
Awesome 🎵 !!!!!!!!!!
It would've been a nice surprise to have Angie Stone perform something from her rap days.
Anyone gave a link to the FULL performance? I can't find anything 😩
Super cool to see vista still spit that verse
HiP HOP is A LeO. ❤
Cool to see aesop rock and atmosphere on the backdrop
Aesop Rock on the wall!!!! Aes is amazing and deserves the recognition.
The most powerful genre of music Michael Jackson and then hip hip
I hope Glo-Rilla took that energy in because new artist don’t always get that kind of opportunity
Where can I watch the full performance?
I hope they do a civil rights music tribute at the Grammys next year.
Yesssss I needed this
I gotta be next to make history for hip hop
LL is always articulate and intelligent

Thanks to the Queen for reppin' Jersey!
I’m in Texas but, one of my favorite Rap songs is her track Jersey on the New Jersey Drive Soundtrack.👍🏽
Common should have had a part with I used to love HER
It's Vanilla Ice on the wall of names for me 🤣 now I cant get the "Ice Ice Baby" beat from the beginning out my head
"Alright stop, collaborate and listen."

Way, way better than the “unholy” performance.
Holy fuck it was a GREAT performance
Bless up the Jamaican who is one of the founders one of the 3kings DJ Kool Herc
They really missed out on a lot of greats though.
WOW!!!!
Hip hop don't need approval or validation from the grammys.
That is Queen latifah for real! Am feeling the vybez
They coulda kept Lil Baby and Glorilla and put in Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, MC Lyte, PRT, KRS, Big Daddy Kane, Monie Love....the list is endless.
Lord God Delivery them all from the hands of the devil Save Them 🙏🏼🙏🏼😭😭😭
QUEEN LATIFAH
Oh I wish I could have seen Flavor. I don't like todays hip-hop. It used to be so great!
It's had its ups and downs. For example, as much as I like Dr Dre and NWA songs. It really ruined rap for a long time and Diddy just rapping over older great songs didn't help either. I think it recovered well enough to like some new stuff over the years. But the early stuff is still better.
Yea hip hop fell of a longggggg time ago
hIP hOP LEGEND'S PERIOD I LOVE YOU ALL EPIC NIGHT NEVER BEFORE SEE @ THE GRAMMY'S LL COOL JAY IS A HUGE LEGEND & OF COURSE THE QUEEN LATIFAH
