Did you guys know that being a bandit and robbing farmers and merchants was an entirely accepted way of earning money for a nobleman? The only one who minded was maybe the noble in whose territory they did this, but that was often more annoyance why they chose their territory and got the peasants riled up.
Being a farmer, merchant or working for anyone except a high noble were all considered much worse options.
