Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Hi Kara and Nate!
Umm idk so yes but no at the same time
Really
Can you reopen 😅😊😊😊
Thank you all for the love on this vlog! It's definitely one of our favorites we've ever made, so we're glad the feeling is mutual :) There are a couple FAQs in this comment section, so I thought I'd post the answers here for anyone else wondering!! -
1 Q: How did you fly your drone in Antarctica when it's illegal there?
A: IAATO requires you to have a drone license in order to fly it legally (they make ALL the rules to protect Antarctica!). Thankfully, one guide on our ship had the license and let us use the footage he got of our trip! So any drone footage in this series is thanks to him. You find the link to his instagram in the description.
2 Q: Why did you have to disinfect your boots?
A: We stepped in the pink disinfectant both when leaving and getting back on the ship. This is for multiple reasons. We visited a new island or part of the continent everyday, and so disinfecting on the way out was to prevent cross contaminating between places, and also so we didn't bring anything from the ship onto land via our boots. Then when embarking, we cleaned our boots mainly to get the penguin poop off 😂
Hope this helps!
❤
The boot thing was really bugging me! Thanks for explaining it 😁
The two questions I was wondering about. Thank you!
Can you go to Sweden that would be so fun to see
Kara and Nate did you guys see any UFOs LOL
TheShauNanigans h
When Kara started crying, I realised I was tearing up and smiling too. The fact that you guys have managed to capture this moment and share it with people on the other side of a screen and make us feel a fraction of the emotions you must have felt in that moment says a lot. You are making my travel bucket list impossible now. How can I not want to go and see this with my own eyes? I can only imagine how incredible it would be 🤩
I also sat here with tears welling up. What a stunning moment they captured and shared with all of us to see.
Me too. Omg
Same.
This is a really nice comment God bless you and your family!
Watching your videos about Antarctica makes be tear up. I got back from Antarctica in December 2019 after having been a part of the first high school student group in North America to travel there. There's no way I can describe our adventure other than a life changing experience. It wasn't only the marvellous landscapes and the abundant wildlife that has made me so attached to Antarctica, it was the people we met on our ship, the stories we heard, and the stories we have. Antarctica was a big step for me in regards to overcoming fear. It was both the longest and farthest I have been from my home. I also have a deathly phobia of throwing up and was even considering not going on the trip because of the Drake. It took courage for all of us to wave goodbye to our parents at the gate, but we did it anyway because we knew we were in for the adventure of a lifetime. After coming back from Antarctica I feel like I can do anything. Due to the fact that I overcame so many fears on that trip, and I did it alongside my wonderful group of friends, I am not scared of anything anymore. My love for adventure as well as my excitement about the future has grown immensely because of the expedition. I’ve started planning things like trips with my step dad up to Alaska in our tiny tin boat. That idea was shot down pretty quick, but the sense of adventure is still there. Along with this, I have also become a lot more grateful and feel a lot more fulfilled in my life. The other day my friends asked, “If you were to die right now, would you feel satisfied?” They were all quick to reply with “no,” saying they felt they had not accomplished all they wanted to accomplish yet. For me, after coming back from Antarctica, one of the best experiences of my life, my reply was simply “yes.” Even though I am only seventeen, I would feel satisfied with my life if I were to die now because I’ve had a pretty epic life.
Before the opportunity to go to Antarctica arose, I saw it as a place I would never get to visit, an unattainable dream. When I first saw the poster on the wall at school, a photo of a man surrounded by massive icebergs and kayaking alongside a humpback whale with bold white letters across the top that read: ANTARCTICA, my immediate reaction was doubt. I didn’t believe there was enough money to send me to the other side of the world and even if there was, I didn’t believe I had enough bravery to do it. But there was something that day, a sliver of hope that made me take down the poster and stuff it in my backpack.
Even once the unattainable dream became a reality and we were gearing up to go on the trip that was mere weeks away, I didn’t fully realize how Antarctica would impact me. I still saw it as simply an “awesome place to visit.” It was not until I was actually in Antarctica, surrounded by my newfound friends and the same massive icebergs I had seen on the poster a year earlier that I realized it was so much more than just “a place to visit.” It was a place that brought about growth and connection and love like I have never known before. As Apsley Cherry-Garrard, a historic Antarctic explorer once said, “In Antarctica you get to know people so well that in comparison you do not seem to know the people in civilisation at all.” I was humbled and amazed by Antarctica and its ability to, in some way, change the life of every single person who goes down there. In fact, I found one must be warned before travelling to Antarctica, as it comes with a slew of unanticipated features such as newfound bravery, uncontrollable laughter, exhaustion, exhilaration, seasickness, peace of mind, inspiration, lifelong friendships, difficult goodbyes, and the forever yearning to go back.
Sorry for the long message! I basically just wanted to say you did a wonderful job of catching the essence of Antarctica in your videos. Thank you for the trip down memory lane. Isn't Antarctica just wonderful?
Wow thats amazing this should have gotten more likes honestly people who share experience are brave
@Basmah Oh thank you so so much! That means the world haha
@Basmah +1
Awesome man
@Hayden Roth I spent ten weeks in Antarctica in 1997. Sorry to say you will never stop wanting to go back and I still do plan on revisiting there one day. You just can’t get that experience or those feelings anywhere else. It is truly a unique place.
Watching this made me so emotional. It was almost like I was experiencing it with you guys! Never thought I would consider taking such a beautiful trip to Antarctica!
,h
I think out of your 750+ vlogs (as of today), this is my favorite of them all. Just so absolutely incredible! Amazing pictures and video, and what an incredible adventure! The leopard seal part is just so incredible!!
I really love the reverence and quiet while out seeing the animals. Those cold quiet moments seem so special.
AMAZING STUFF GUYS!
So u got Antarctica in ur trip list .
I never expected you to appear here.
Hi dod you recieve notification? Big fan
@vickyspar 28 nooo. He already visited south pole.
I never knew I wanted to go to Antarctica! It’s breathtaking.
I was crying just watching the video, I can't imagine how I would feel to be there in person. Incredible.
The way you guys filmed this is just so beautiful! Honest it's like movie level cinematography in this vid. Just simply gorgeous
It has never occurred to me before to go to Antarctica, until now thanks to you guys! It looks incredible! I've loved watching your vlogs from this trip 💜
Incredible...! You guys should publish a book of photographs from all your adventures.
Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦
Four-plus years. 7 continents. 100+ countries.
All the wows.
And I thought 1 holiday a year was a lot!!
@Rosie_Grace_ 2008 We do four vacations - 3 on the big holidays and a Milwaukee Brewers road trip - all in America. And that's a huge budget chunk. So to see them do this and not just make a living, but make an impactful living on others through it...wonderfully insane.
Sorgi Stories your trips sound awesome! Do you roadtrip to Milwaukee or drive to one of their away games? I’m from SE Wisconsin!
@Ahh it’s Katie THANKS! We live in Milwaukee and go to games here, but we always do one Brewers road trip every year. 13th stadium for little man and me this year if all goes as planned. And yes, we will vlog it, but nowhere near as masterful as Kara & Nate!
Sorgi Stories right on, that’s awesome! Bet those Brewer road trips are the best!
The whales were amazing! I've seen documentries before but y'all got the best shots so beautiful! Thank you Kara and Nate. Love this Antartica cruise.
I'm rewatching this for the I don't know how many times. My cat is a very talkative soul. She's been replying to the penguins 😂 every time they made a sound she makes the same sound. It's what she normally sounds like when she squeaks at me. But I wasn't talking, so everything the penguin made a sound and she replied I was crying with laughter 😂😂
So I'm gonna take her to Antarctica me thinks, she can convene with nature and penguins 😂
Everytime I watch one of your videos (especially this kind) I find myself grinning from ear to ear without even realizing it! Thank you, Kara and Nate, for taking us on yet another adventure that most of us will never get to do. These videos are the next best thing, and you guys are the best!!
Much love sent to you, wherever you are right now. Stay safe and God Bless you both!!
Absolutely fantastic. Well edited. Thank you. Love the world and Mother Nature 😍
Seeing you both get ready in the morning in a room much more spacious than your typical living arrangements. Y’all stood side by side, back to back just like you were in the van! So funny 😂
never thought I'd consider adding antarctica to my bucket list but here we go lol
I'll join , lol!
same!
cutie cute 😔
@cutie cute Antarctic ice growth is multiplying, it's the arctic that is having ice loss because of pole shifts
First time for me watching your vids and it looks like I’ve picked a good one. You two are so real and have produced such a wonderful video. Your personalities along with this type of film making is exactly what makes the quality UAclips videos that people want to see. Congratulations, I am looking forward to watching and subscribing and wish you all the best with your exciting future endeavours to share with us all. Cheers.
That was incredible 👏 love seeing 👀 types of videos 📹 I can't wait to experience such vibe. Well done 👏
This was such an amazing video. I even teared a little- so happy you guys still have adventures to share with us!
I love this series - my fam and I have watched it so many times!!! We do have a giggle at 3:06 seeing Nate film in the mirror while it looks like two people are still asleep 🤣. We love ya’ll!!!
The pacing of Kara & Nate can go two ways:
A. Goes fast because the thrill makes us lose track of time.
B. Goes slow to the point where it's soothing.
Either way, it's entertaining, keeps us hooked, and makes us feel as though we actually experienced it with them.
Can we say that time is relative, like the theory of relativity?
It’s wonderful to see that after 4 years of travel you can still get emotional and amazed by such a beautiful place. Nate’s description of those “teenage” penguins was priceless.thankyou for sharing.
❤❤❤
This WAS like a National Geographic episode! Very powerful and moving. Creation is amazing. Thanks for explaining the molting. So we saw penguins and seals and whales and a type of bird. Is that the extent of the wildlife? Beautiful to see. Love the comment about the cold but wonder if you could "distract" yourself to frostbite!
The footage was just beautiful. It’s so crazy that you guys were able to get all of this. This was just amazing!
This was an incredible video. So much gratitude to you guys for making and sharing your amazing adventures! Living the dream!! 💖💖💖
It breaks my heart that humans could even hurt such precious creatures like a whale thanks so much for the experience just wow 😮
This video is literally so touching and magical, it feels so unreal. I really hope I'll be able to go there and discover how much Mother Nature has given to us
This planet is honestly breath taking its beautiful 🥺 we should take care of it more
Absolutely incredible! Just wow! Very David Attenborough wildlife documentary style! The moment with the Leopard seal and the whales up close!
Wow! No words! And yet I still try....Thank you! I have always wanted to experience whales and this just reinforces it, plus, this makes me appreciate Antarctica even more! I never thought I would want to go there! Thank you again!
My wife and I may have about 30 years on you guys but we are even in our love of travel. Just found your channel but are instant fans.
Kara and Nate have already set a very high standard on what a true Travel Vlog for a couple should be.. and we envy 🤗🤗🤗. Thanks for letting us join you to all of your unique travels and adventures with a heart 👍
Ugh I knew this was a dream but this made it a must do on my bucket list. Watching this I was emotional and in awe with you. Thank you for sharing!
Those little penguins rocking their "Early Nate" hairstyles 😂😂😂 We've been travelling full time as long as you guys and you still manage to inspire and amaze us with your awesome videos, enthralling storytelling and ability to "bring us along" wherever you are. We love watching your journeys. ❤
Beyond adorable
I never dreamed of going to Antarctica, but this video gives me an appreciation for it and awe inspired curiosity to see it for real.
What amazing job you did Kara and Nate . Its Incredible thing to enjoy marine life
and seeing things that you can't even think of one day
. Lovely. Dying to see Antarctica. Hope this opportunity will come soon in my life. Lots of love . :-)
You guys are great and this video is so awesome! But at 3:07 when I saw Nate in the mirror, I for sure thought this episode took a terrifying turn 😂😂😂
I've never watched a vlog without skipping, before !
Breathtaking beauty 💙🤍
omg, i really got emocional with the wales part 😂
thank u guys so much for let us fell a bit of this adventure with you!!
antartica it's on the top of my bucket list for sure now lol
When Kara said she didn´t know why she was crying, I was already crying! To see something so beautiful, so natural, touches something within us... we are all part of it! Seeing all that reminds us (brings us back) of our true nature, something we forget with all the noice around us.To all who read... Take time to enjoy life, no shopping center is going to make you feel the intense "gut" feeling this does! BTW, I live in Argentina and this is the first time I see this!
It's so wonderful hearing others feel so emotional watching these beautiful creatures!! I can only dream of one day hearing and seeing this myself ❤️
It really humbles you, doesn't it? Absolutely stunning 😌
This is probably the most incredible video, the footage you got of the whales is so incredible, I felt like it was a planet earth video. Your channel has kept me so happy throughout the quarantine and I just added Antarctica to my bucket list!
It's amazing what travelling does to people. It even gets an American to refer to distances in meters... :) Seriously guys brilliant work. You should come back to Greece at some point and explore the mountainous mainland.
This is one of the most beautiful videos I’ve ever watched on UAclips! Thank you for this experience ❤️ I cried with you!
This Antarctica trip has been my favorite out of all the many hours I’ve watched! I love y’all being in one place for a good while. I am so accustomed to the fast moving travel but I have had such enjoyment tucking in for one place and subject. Thank you so much for these yummy videos! Peace-
So weird. Perhaps because it’s not a location I’ve ever thought about visiting, I wasn’t really expecting to enjoy this video much as I did. This was truly spectacular. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
I was almost in tears watching the whales. It is absolutely amazing how massive and graceful they are! Just pure beauty. Congratulations on your milestone!
LoL😂😂😂😂😂
I was! I saw a momma & her baby Humpback whales on an excursion in Alaska and it was amazing.. but that was before I took video.. and you had film developed. :)
Same...
You guys do the greatest stuff!!! I love your videos and I hope you're staying safe!!!
Probably the greatest vlog i've ever watched.
I will experience that one day.
I feel so lucky to of visited there numerous times working with Seabourn, such a magical place!
I don't think I have seen such an amazing video ever. Also, I feel you guys are the luckiest to have been there!
Wonderful. Simply wonderful. You two are professionals. Narrating, photographing, editing, setting the mood, sound. Everything.
I think this is the best bit of travel UAclips ever. That whale encounter was incredible.
I completely agree!
I also cried at this moment and pray that I could experience such a magic travel with my hubbie 🙏
There is so much more to the story of the crew and how they survived. If you get a chance, there are books available. When I was still teaching 5th grade, we read about it each year, and we were inspired to research it even more. Truly a miracle they all survived, and it was unbelievably difficult.
Wow I am stunned by these vlogs. Beautiful footage and editing! Those penguins are soooo adorable!
It's so cool to see how happy you guys are about this experience.
This feels like a tour of maritime Jurassic park. Truly amazing.
You guys sometimes are at NatGeo level
Antarctica has been on my bucket list ever since I read “The Coldest March: Scott's Fatal Antarctic Expedition.” This is a must read for anyone interested in history and exploration! You will not be disappointed.
You guys are actually stepping into another level.
another damn world
Yes, definitely gives you the feel of the childlike wonder you have before you thought you've seen everything. It's magical.
So true what Nate said at 9:31; this is totally like a nature documentary!! I'm blown away by the quality of your videography. I was laughing at the elephant seals scratching themselves (another video) and the penguins with their fluffy afros and terrified for them when the seal was lunging at them. Well done!
Nates smile thru the entire video was priceless! Everything looked absolutely unbelievable. Antarctica is on my bucket list.
Kara & Nate
This is such a brilliantly done video and kudos to all the efforts put into making this vedio. Now because of you'll, a visit to Antartica has been pushed up on my bucket list.
Wow that footage of the sea lion going after the penguins was amazing! What an incredible opportunity for you guys to be able to capture that. Definitely on Team Penguin for that one.
Kara and Nate must be some of the most craziest and bravest people on youtube ever. Traveling all over the world even to places not many want to go to and them vlogging it is actually quite brave if you think about it.
Nate: “There’s no way you can fully appreciate having them there just through the camera”
Me: *crying mess*
I can’t imagine actually being there, seeing and hearing them.
Glad I'm not the only one wiping my tears away and blowing my nose towards the end. Thank you so much Kara and Nate
How beautiful! The whales made me tear up! This is now on my bucket list!!! Thank you for sharing.
My friend lived and worked there at Antartica for years. He was part of some research base and would video call etc. He was in charge of the big machines for digging, travelling etc so he had a blast and he would tell me about those exact penguins as they are known for being very friendly and they would turn up at the camp. But they are also very stupid and didn’t know how to make it back to whatever island they came from so they had to be escorted back to the groups and sea. I always found that so funny. Some of the pictures he took were just so breathtaking. One day I will make the trip to Antarctica !!
How insanely beautiful! The penguins and wildlife just amaze me
16:48 cutest moment , kara's penguin walk. 17:22 Nate's acting as seal .People with good attitude are born with it, can't fake it. Cheers to u two... u two has helped with my depression. BIG THANK YOU...
Yout two are honestly my favorite people on the internet!! Every one of your videos just gives me a bigger urge to go out and explore! THANKS FOR THAT!
I don’t get how some people would still not care about the oceans and global warming after seeing this video. Beautiful video oh my goshhhhh. Unreal.
And the people who say they love the environment and oceans etc and still go to these places are hypocritical.
I am afraid that I will never get to visit it cause I'm 12 and there is already green vegetation ☹️☹️
Lana they are not hypocritical because those animal right there are not caged! It’s like an ocean safari, don’t support zoo’s or aquatic caged places if you want to make a change. No one was there to bother or trap the animals videos like these makes you aware that we share our planet with those animal yet we’re killing them and potentially destroy their home if we don’t make a change. humans are selfish beings therefore “Mother Nature” is taking it’s course right now!!!! Hope this is a wake up call to save the planet
@JO JO i was talking about pollution. Those ships are such big pollution, showing your love to Antarctica is by NOT going there.
never had an inclination to travel to antarctica but this was beautiful and will definitely be planning a trip there one day
This is like their 2nd video I've ever watched but I'm so proud of them for reaching the 7th continent 😆
Just watching this for the 3rd time, it's so beautiful thanks got capturing the emence beauty of our planet for us to enjoy over and over 🥰🥰
Amazing job guys 👏👏 looking forward for your another masterpiece videos 👍👍
कैसे हो भाई....????
Here I am at the beginning of this video, crying as if it’s me there experiencing this in person. I’m so happy for you both for accomplishing your dreams ☺️
I was crying with you Kara. Your storying telling in this episode is as magical as the location/subjects. I look forward to the next video!
You are so sweet! It was surreal to be in this incredible place!
I'm obsessed with these antartica videos this is definitely on top of my bucket list
Thank you guys
Your videos are magic. You never fail to see and show the little details that I would be hung up on if I was lucky enough to be there. Thank you!
Wow thank you so much for showing us such rare sightings I would never imagine seeing in my real life! SUBSCRIBED! 👌🏽
Just finished my iceland trip and this now pushes me to go visit Antarctica next. Absolutely breathtaking.
I’m in a wheelchair because of MS and I’m so enjoying seeing this place thru your videos!! Brings tears to my eyes! Your excitement and the wildlife is wonderful!! Thank you
Similar situation. In a wheelchair because of ME/CFS. Mostly housebound. Love seeing the world in this way.
Jackie Naiditch however it takes!! Right?
+1 me too.. it is amazing that we can be brought on these adventures from the "comfort" of a sickbed ... internet is a freaking good invention for ppl like us :)
all my best to you both
Similar here. Although I believe not many people would ever have the opportunity to cruise through the Antarctic
I too have MS and got recently diagnosed. I just want to be a reminder that despite our restrictions that MS might cause, videos like these allows us to explore right beside Kara and Nate :)
Thank you guys for this amazing video !!! Cant imagine a better experience of antartica that u shared with us !!! 😍
Thank you for this. I've had a horrible few days and this was exactly what I needed .
Close encounter with these whales are mind-blowing. Thank you for letting me watch this. As I watch every episodes you have in this channel, this was my favorite so far. This is epic, feels like Im watching it on national geographic. lovelots
Guys !! I was just thinking about yu guys in the present times. I hope you both are doing fine and wont stop showing us the world once everything settles down :)
So so so beautiful!!!!!!!! This Antarctica trip made me subscribe to your channel. Love it. 🇨🇦
Kara and Nate in 2 years: We're going to the moon!
Dtestor As their training trip in preparation for Mars
Omg yes!!! Hahha I'm so hear for that!
David Wood *here
In 30 years: Hey guys we’re going to Andromeda!
In 25 years let’s go break inside Area 51 LIKE INSIDE NOT. JUST AROUND IT
Wow, we live in the Peugeot Sound and we.have seen many whales but not like this you are so great at showing us the world. Love you guys.
This gave me goosebumps watching, I don’t care how much this cruise is I will one day go! Thanks for documenting your experience :)
What you guys saw with the leopard seal trying to get the penguins reminds me of the time me, my mom, and 3 sisters were on a boat ride in Galveston and we saw some dolphins doing flips and tricks and we stopped to see what was going on then we saw a baby dolphin come out of the water and the tour guide said over the loud speaker that a baby dolphin was just born right in front of us it was awesome (we were late getting back to the dock because of it)
Thank you for the video guys..... i literally felt like i am also there with you in the beautiful ocean along with the whales. Superb
So happy to have found this channel! You guys are amazing!
This has to be one of my top 5 favorite videos of y’all’s. The absolute beauty of this place is so breathtaking. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! Such a beautiful scenery and just seeing this nature and wildlife touched my heart.
This is the most beautiful video I’ve seen in awhile on UAclips, must say you guys have done a great job . Made me to book ticket to Antarctica 🇦🇶.
Kara and Nate.. it is fun watching you. Thank you for making it so funny and enjoyable. Enjoy and stay safe.
