@Imasimplerugthe difference is this is 20 minutes of unscripted/unfiltered thoughts, whereas a scott the woz episode is 20+ minutes of thoroughly thought out, scripted, heavily edited content
(Also most scott the woz episodes as of late tend to focus on a more general subject than a single controller for a single console to keep things moving)

Beavis and Butt-Head is an American adult animated television series created by Mike Judge for MTV (seasons 1-8) and later Paramount+ (season 9 - present, as Mike Judge's Beavis and Butt-Head).The series follows Beavis and Butt-Head, both voiced by Judge, a pair of teenage slackers characterized by their apathy, lack of intelligence, lowbrow humor, and love for hard rock and heavy metal.
The characters originated in Judge's 1992 short film Frog Baseball, which was broadcast by MTV's animation showcase Liquid Television. After MTV commissioned a full series, Beavis and Butt-Head ran for seven seasons from 1993 to 1997. It was revived with an eighth season aired on MTV in 2011. A second revival, consisting of an initial two-season order, premiered on Paramount+ in 2022.
During its initial run, Beavis and Butt-Head received critical acclaim for its satirical, scathing commentary on society, as well as criticism for its alleged influence on adolescents. It produced various other media, including the theatrical film Beavis and Butt-Head Do America in 1996. A second film, Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe, was released in 2022 on Paramount+.

    • legoboy7107

I like the vice versa of that, how the NES/SNES Classic Edition controllers are compatible with the Wii Remote, meaning you can also use them on the Wii to play VC games or anything else you can hook up a Wii Remote to (even the Switch with an adapter). I don't have the NES Classic console because it quickly became nearly impossible to get, but I did get the controller for it since they sold those on their own too, and I've used it with my Wii and even Switch quite a bit, it's of course perfect for playing NES Virtual Console games.

The reason analog triggers were never attempted again past the Wii Classic Controller is due to a lawsuit by a patent troll Anascape, where they sued Microsoft and Nintendo in 2006 over the violation of 12 different patents, 7 of which involved analog triggers. Nintendo lost this case in 2008, owing the troll 21mill dollars, but eventually appealed/won it in 2010. While this protects their rerelease of the gamecube controller (and I suppose the original Wii Classic), if they were to attempt a new controller with analog, they would likely face another lawsuit, with no guarantee of winning this time. Hope this helps!

The analog triggers of the original WIi Classic Controller is useful on the Nintendont homebrew app (that plays GameCube games and supports Wii Classic Controllers). Even though they haven't had any use for mainstream Wii / WiiWare games (or someone can correct me if I'm wrong), it would have been nice for Wii Classic Controllers to have kept the analogs for us Nintendont users.

    • Pwuz

I remember when I was repairing one of my Wavebird Controllers, and struggling to find anything on my Wii to test to ensure the Analog triggers were still working properly. It was then I realized that my Classic Controller Pro didn’t have the Analog Triggers, yet the OG Classic Controllers did.

The Classic Controller is pretty much the most versatile Nintendo controller, considering you can use it with most Virtual Console content on Wii and Wii U, most Wii U games, and even the Switch if you have a USB adapter. I also think it works with GameCube games on Nintendont, so I suppose those analog triggers do get some use after all, assuming you're willing to jailbreak the console.

Ergonomically controller design continued to improve after the Super Nintendo. It did peak with the Super Nintendo as far as layout is concerned. Even Nintendo eventually returned to that layout.

Classic controller pro was one of the most (if not the most) ergonomic feeling controller I've held. Used it for PS1 emulation via a Mayflash adapter all the time 11 years ago.
A shame it lost out on the analogue triggers. And it never got the thumbstick buttons.

@Noodleman exactly 👍 I also used that dongle to get my PS4 controller to work on the switch. It worked so perfectly for botw until I discovered bootlegged amiibo NFC tags which needed joycons specifically.
Anyhoozle, the classic controller is great in conjunction with a joycon by your side for the missing buttons. I beat Pikmin 3 with my wife using the classic controller 😎

I actually vastly prefer non-analog triggers. I just really like the clicky and snappy feel of the switch's shoulder buttons. And for the games I'm playing, analog has never been necessary. So yeah that's my take wow

I quite like the original Classic Controller with the Nyko Classic Controller Grip. Not only does it add grips to make it more comfortable, but it attaches the Wiimote in a holster thing that clips into the two slots on the back of the Classic Controller, making this whole contraption a one-piece controller that has the weight it lacked when it was the Classic Controller on its own. It's a real shame absolutely no games used the analog triggers though. I had no problems with the close sticks or the shoulder button arrangement, so I never regarded the Pro controller as an upgrade.

I like this a lot better than the classic controller pro. The analog triggers are a nice touch, and it's great for mario kart wii as that game treats L/R as the triggers rather than ZL/ZR, plus you're using the Analog stick and D-pad simultaneously a lot which is harder to do on the pro.

If I had to take a guess as to what that clasp was for... it was probably the same idea as the Nyko thing. I think Nintendo wanted this thing to be able to fit into an ergonomic grip thing, similar to the Classic Controller Pro... which might be why the idea was canned.

Nintendo no longer implements analog triggers into their controllers as a company owns the patent for the technology behind them, Sony and Microsoft pay a fee to include them. They only included them on GameCube controllers still as I guess they think that they have to.

I've heard the reason for putting wires on the bottom of the controller is to increase longevity of it. The idea is that if you pulled the controller too hard you would torque the wire at the strong part rather than on the weak connection to the controller. I mean, like you said, the Dreamcast had it on the bottom much like they also had hall effect sticks.
How many people do you know that needed to throw out a Dreamcast controller? I mean I played the hell out of Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 with nearly 1000 hours on them (I had a chao garden obsession) and still have that controller.

8:28 I remember seeing advertisements in gaming magazines for an accessory to the Classic Controller that would add on traditional handles to it while also having something on the back that you could wrap the cord around and even snap the Wiimote in place (something I wish was added to the Classic Controller Pro). I don't think I ever saw it in stores myself, and I'm starting to wonder if it ever officially released.
I believe that "this thing" here was meant to help attach the accessory.
    Edit: 11:00 ....oh.
I also forgot it was by NYKO and not officially licensed by Nintendo.

As someone who loves the Wii console quite a bit and it happened to be my dad's favorite console of all time, I can attest to wanting more controller options for most of the Wii console lineup. As someone who suffers from a moderate case of cerebral palsy affecting my entire left side using Anything not in the shape of a GameCube controller Xbox controller or a PlayStation controller is incredibly hard for me. And it's also so hard to find games for the Wii that are compatible with the GameCube controller. I even recently got a very old and beating up classic controller from a friend but I have no Wii games that support it and I can't find any worth playing because most of the Wii games are so expensive. My main goal for the Wii is to get Zelda Twilight Princess for the GameCube and finally complete the game that my dad started 11 years ago but never had a chance to finish.

When rebuying a Wii, I knew I wanted a Pro Controller because one of the largest reasons for me getting the Wii was to play Brawl. I found the Classic Controller in a bundle for some other Wii remotes and bought it instead.
