You paint a pretty picture - and I sorta want to live on the moon now - but something you said gave me pause: are we certain a pregnancy from start to finish under the lunar gravity would even work out? I seem to remember a study on microgravity having adverse effects on embryo development, but that was on the ISS...

I was wondering what would happen if an AI or multiple AI did kill off all humans? Would it pick up were humans left off? And if there were multiple AI how would they get along? And what about AI who dont have free will or have a programed task what would they do? They don't have humans to obay anymore and AI don't have much biological needs. Would AI go to war over territory? And if it was just one AI that had free will and killed all humans would it just keep upgrading itself?

To colonize the moon would need us to start a new war just like how they colonized america. It seems nothing motivates us more than a war. Unfortunately...
Us humans, are too egoistic and independent to go together and work as a whole on something this big. It’s sad but it’s the truth. A moon base would create a new cold war or Even apocalypse here on earth.

What about the problem of living on the moon making humans bones less dense because of the lack of gravity. Or something like that haha, I’m not an expert but I wanna know about the health changes about living on the moon and what it would mean to come back to earth afterwards

These projects imply that many new areas of research and development will be needed to colonize, not just rocketry and 3d printers, but advances in gene therapy, like the new CRISPR, technique for gene modding. The only way a single person, or a large society actually change is if your CHALLENGED with a problem you MUST get the right answers on. Just staying here on Earth, we are just not challenging our population to tackle difficult problems like staying alive and healthy on the moon, because you, I, they don't need too. It was the Apollo program that actually lead to the very first Software for those huge computers to actually use and process information from. They were just big adding machines for twenty years, until the Astronauts needed both computation power, but easy to use, able to monitor various life support machines at once, while informing people on the ground with that information. Software, wasn't a thing before the Apollo missions, because we had no real problem and challenge to have our engineers think of this thing called Software you can code into your giant adding machines to give them more capabilities. Actually living on the moon will most certainly challenge the people actually there, and the support at home. These new challenges may accelerate what we can do with CRISPR due to an infusement of cash from the government, to see if it will allow Doctors to code these astronauts genes, to repair, or even not succumb to the effects of low gravity. This would lead to an enormous new area in medicine that could be used to save countless lives here on Earth, giving jobs and making people money. The first Apollo missions, and the ones in the early to mid sixties required over 500,000 thousand people, all from different back grounds and businesses to put their heads together and make it work. It annoys me to no end, these people that deny the moon landing, still don't understand that it was the work of PRIVATE INDUSTRY AND PRIVATE CITIZENS that developed every solution. NASA is a civilian agency, they only work NASA does is administration. They went into the United States private sector, put out a challenge that needed to be solved, this intern got interest from many private businesses to compete against each other to win the contract from NASA. These private businesses all had to demonstrate why their solution is best for the mission, and be chosen over the other PRIVATE BUSINESSES. After the competition was over, a private contract was awarded by NASA, but the Private Business and individuals had to due the work, refining the technology and updating NASA on their progress. It WAS NOT DONE BY THE GOVERNMENT, GETTING TO THE MOON, IT WAS DONE BY THE UNITED STATES PRIVATE INDUSTRY AND PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS WITH THEIR UNIQUE TALENTS FROM THE COMPETITIVE INDUSTRIES THEY WERE ALREADY ADEPT IN WORKING. NASA works INTIMATELY with the private sector to help them reach their potential, and bring together talent from other Private businesses they have recently worked. This is how Kennedy wanted it done, it was basically Russia and their Command Economy that was showing better results in new technology, and Kennedy wanted to prove to Russia AND THE REST OF THE WORLD that the free market system, utilizing the talents of people that excel in our economy, therefore attesting that the will of every free person can do a much better job, competing and overcoming challenges to get humanity to the moon. Essentially, what helps humanity achieve more, Command Economies, or Private Economies. Look at the results, we got there, and were humble enough to say, mankind got to the moon, not "The US and only the US went to the moon". Deniers of this achievement, slap everyone in the face of the United States and those abroad that know deep down inside, we can adventure to the heavens and endure, possibly thrive. Anyway, staying on the moon is going to require many brains, research and will to make it happen. The money is NOT the issue, as America whips it's ass with 40 Billion dollars, hell, this country wipes it's ass with, 1 Trillion dollars. Look at the new military aircraft that has been in development for over ten years and yes, 1 TRILLION DOLLARS SPENT AND WE DON'T EVEN HAVE A PROTOTYPE done for testing. That is a HUGE WASTE OF CASH, ESPECIALLY SINCE NOTHING EVER CAME OF THAT MONEY. The United States could have used 10 percent of that money, over the same amount of years and have a healthy colony on the moon, with god knows what spinoff technologies we would be enjoying on Earth. So, to finally answer your question; that will be a hard challenge to overcome and your more than welcome to help the effort by going to college and getting your degree in Genetics, possibly cracking the code to make more resilient and healthy moon colonizers.

This is a perfect illustration and I'm dead sure moon colony will declare its independance just like how US, AU and CA after some point :)
I am an earth scientist aka planetory scientist and specialised in mining engineering. I will be more than glad to work in any excavation projects. For free! Just put me on the moon, provide me a personal shelter and provide me sufficient food and water. I will work 24/7/365 its super exciting! Just imagine the whole new rock cycle and brand new orebodies and volcanic activities omg the thrill is real.
And just imagine lunar people's adaptations with new generations.
Much longer spines resulting in very tall people due to lower gravitational pull, more radiation resistant skins and eyes due to hawking cosmic radiation etc. They may even invent a new language! Very exciting topic :)

I FUCKING love this channel so much but I feel as though this video was worse than usual. I know it's hypothetical but they forgot some of the issues that affect people living in space. "A phase 2 colony would have to take shelter" but then how would a phase 3 or a phase 4 function? Big structures mean they don't fit in the shelter anymore and they'd be at risk from asteroids and impacts. Would they build some sort of dome? Or make it underground? Also, doesn't living in space screw with your spine and bone structure (asking idk)? It'd be really cool and id be dying to be in an extraterrestrial colony. Anyway just some questions I had

Given.the history of companies & corporations exploiting people and resources, are they really needed in order to get a self sufficient moon? Surely if you look at the successful countries like Norway, the moon could declare independence as soon as they can protect themselves and use a democratically controlled extraction, in the hands of engineers, scientists & elected officials instead of billionaires.

Honestly I link they’d prefer to be referred to as a race. They’d also ask for independence however they’d be more of a Canada like nation as they do not feel the need to prevent trade with those on earth as it is beneficial for the growth of our race. The Lunists would have more of a progressive view in many regards helping with decisions about space travel and offer support to those who wish to return to earth and those who want to transfer to the moon.

I agree with all that and I can't wait until humanity accomplishes these goals but what happens with the lower gravity of the moon? Considering that Scott Kelly spend a year in 0g and his body changed a lot, how will it be possible for a baby to get born on the moon and not be deformed?

You didnt discuss a huge problem with phase 3 moon colonization, gravity. Or lack thereof. Moon people would have deteriorating bodies, and babies most certainly wouldnt be equipped for long term survival and could certainly never go to Earth.
Furthermore the lack of atmosphere is a HUGE barrier to even accomplishing stage 2. The moon is bombarded daily with hundreds of tiny meteorites. Any long term infrastructure would have to have some kind of shield or defence against this, and right now we dont have that technology.
