That is a very good point. You can have a good to decent coach, but if you don't have the players, it's worth nothing. The Bengals are a case study in this. Zac Taylor and his coaching staff are incredible but until they got Burrow, Chase, Higgins, and all of that defensive talent from the 2021 offseason, they were TRASH because they just didn't have any talent outside of a few guys here in there like Tyler Boyd and Mixon. Gotta have talent on the team.

Everyone said Seahawks team was trash this year bottom roster in the league yet Pete Carroll led them to a winning record. In nfl it’s more about coaching because all players are professionals. Obviously there’s superstars but I think coaching matters more

Literally have every single Seahawks version of his jersey and have got a broncos jersey this year. I understand now how the LOB felt. I have respect for Seattle and how they handled Wilson Deal with Denver. I think everyone involved deep down is good people.
It separates Russ from the rest of the team if he has his own branded possy just for him running around the facility, which is counter productive if you’re trying to build a tight knit group. Good move.

Shouts out and congratulations to Pat and the boys, respectively. It’s great to see the set improvements. I gotta admit it’s gonna take some time to get used to the new locations though. I kinda liked the positioning of the last set up. It gave it an old school Howard Stern type feel

I’m pretty sure they are in Arizona bud. This is not there actual set.
To be fair, Broncos' offense had many injured offensive players. Tim Patrick IR before 1st game. Javonte Williams. KJ Hamler. TE Dulcich hurt most of season. Every RB on active roster in Nov/Dec wasn't on their roster in Sept. O-line was running on 3rd stringers. Lack of a strong Coach and injuries were big factors to the season. Even with the injuries, they looked like a new team for the last 2 weeks under Rossberg. Sean Payton is going to really help the team and they will be successful if they can keep players healthy. The defense is stellar. Payton just needs to get that offense to play average and they can win. Defense held almost all teams to under 17 points. If the offense can score 20-24 points, they can win.

@Lake Ozark REI javonte is one of the most talented running backs in the league and the broncos insisted on using melvin gordon fumbling his ass off every game. KJ hamler is indeed a backup...to Tim patrick who got hurt too so they ended up playing the backups backup and dulcich was the starter when he came back. Hackett is hot trash and and the play calling was overall just awful.

The first thing Payton did was cut half the team and sign drew Brees (who everyone thought was broken and too short)
Drew wasn’t big enough to have a “team” in the building when he first got to New Orleans. And Russ needs to be worried about his job not his team. Drew Brees was about the only player Sean Payton didn’t let walk. Or cut when they became a problem.

Sean Payton would rather get Russell Wilson out and rebuild the team w his own people, like he did in New Orleans, than deal w any kind of the Russ vs Payton drama that will happen if Russ doesn’t just STFU and get on board.
Sean Payton’s saints also we’re cap balancing wonders. They were always tens of millions over the cap and somehow figured it out. He knows how to work around the cap hit they’d get by trading Russ.

Plenty of experts said he might have enough gas in the tank for a couple more good years. The chargers let him walk because they thought Philip Rivers was better because the chargers, along w tons of other people, thought he was broken.
The same Phillip Rivers they had to trade for because Eli Manning refused to play for them. So they let the “highly sought-after” Brees walk in favor of a quarterback they got as consolation and didn’t even really want.
Brees by luck was less injury prone in New Orleans than San diego. Payton is a great drafter and judge of talent. I don't see russ not being on the team unless he doesn't buy in to being one of the players on the team and not just the player on the team. Payton is going to be Pete Carroll with more offense to russ.
Wonder how Pat and Brett Kollman would talk back and forth. Think that would be a hell of a show day

We have the weapons we just needed a competent coach. Look how much we improved toward the end of last season once Hackett got terminated. And we’ll have our RB back and our pro bowl LT next season. It will all fall on Russ if he can perform or not. Everything is there for him given we draft some decent offensive lineman.

I used to think the outcome of games was 90+% players and coaches played a smaller role once everything was installed in camp and such. It was Sean Payton that changed my mind. When he got suspended, I figured that the Saints wouldn’t miss a beat. Brees was like a coach on the field and they would mostly cruise. Nope, they totally sucked during the time Payton was out.
While I don't really care about Team 3 being there as a Broncos fan, I like this shoot-from-the-hip style from Peyton.

The hammer has fallen! Many changes going to happen to the Broncos now. After the "Train-wreck" of a season last season, there needs to be!
As a seahawks fan I remember the season before this one and russ taking it upon himself to get the offense up to par for whatever game was being played Sunday, he and his team would print out pamphlets of homework for the recievers and o line to study while also having to study whatever the coaches wanted them too, it was seriously bad there in seattle with the power dynamics and pete and John simmered it down perfectly while it was happening, which is why you have the story coming out this year about his antics

Broncos have plenty of weapons. Just get wilson to play above average, and they can win a lot of games

If Sean Payton can't help RW3, nobody can. He loved Drew Brees so much when he came outta college.. now it's Russell's chance to show people what's up.
Brees was already pretty awesome before Payton. Teaming up with Payton took it up a notch, but Brees was already among the leaders in nearly every metric in his two years prior to joining the Saints.
It's gonna be trickier with Wilson. One of his best attributes is his mobility, and that is really waning. He does have a fantastic deep ball, or at least did prior to last year, but the question is whether he has enough to deliver 600 throws as a pocket QB. He's never had to lean that heavily on his passing during his whole career (558 attempts as a career high, most years under 500 attempts).
Wilson is a movie star. He's going to have his publishing company talk to coach.

What happened with a different team and another coach has no bearing on the outcome of what will happen with the Broncos. I'm sure there are plenty of scenarios of a coach not turning it around.

@Stoker504 Yea, we'll see how it goes. I think that there is enough talent on that team to make it at least a wild card team with a coach like him. Whether or not he can team up with the rest of management to make enough of the right calls in the draft and free agency will probably determine whether they can rise beyond that level.
It's also going to come down to how much juice he can still squeeze out of Russel Wilson. Wilson is at an age where it get's really hard for mobile QBs to continue to perform well. Wilson is a better passer, over his career, than a lot of guys who rely a lot on their legs, but he was never quick at making decisions, so he'll have to learn that skill late in his career. Perhaps Payton has the magic advice that will make a difference. It'll be fascinating to see.

Yea, I think Pierre Thomas and Marquez Colston are good highlights of your point that he was able to make some great finds and build guys up that were late rounders or undrafted free agents. Colston was a very important player on the team for a long time, and Pierre was pretty significant, too. I'm sure there were other guys, as well.
@Orion's Ghost I'm honestly not that sure about how Payton will do in Denver. If they don't have someone to stand up to him it might go bad. U have to have someone besides him picking players. He pressured Loomis into making some pretty dumb decisions because he was awed with a players. He was able to make up for the bad picks with good coaching. For every good draft he had. There were five horrible ones.

My main reason for saying Payton turned people into stars is because of what he did with late round picks. He wasn't that great at picking in the early rounds, but he turned a lot of late rounders into local legends.
The Giants proved that you can win games and make the playoffs with a good coach but bad roster
