Hopefully We Are Wrong About This Next Storm

I’ve said it so many times on a lot of Ryan’s videos but last December 10th he saved me and my family’s life. He called out my hometown by name during his stream 40 minutes before my local meteorologists gave us any notice and 10 minutes after channel 3 gave us the warning, the sirens were going off but we were already in the next town over and luckily our house was missed. I’ll always be grateful for Ryan and the work he does.

Not that any keyboard warrior's will change their mind but just a few months ago my local news station was saying we had a inbound tornado and I had Ryan's live stream going and two of his other storm tracker's and other meteorologist we're saying their wasn't a tornado and only me and one other person was asking what the deal was in the comments and he answered us and said we're okay, and could go to bed.
So thankful, honestly thought we would get overlooked! Was so relieved!

No need to be frightened about a storm. They have occurred forever. Nothing new. They name them and pump fear nonstop. It's what all media and news outlets do.. hopefully your family will prepare and u can help them. Stock up on food water lantern fuel meds and batteries and such. It's common sense if people just think about what is most important when a big snowstorm is possible.. also this is days ahead. Many times they do not pan out. It's better to see where it's at 3-4 days tops from impact. Fear cannot rule our lives...

This winter’s gonna be interesting. It’s only just started and already we’ve got cold waves and snow closing schools in PNW’s low elevations while reducing its highways to mere parking lots, supercells in the Deep South bringing tornadoes but also a much-needed boost to their river’s flow, Californians relieved to find lots of rain (which is already getting turned into lake-effect snow up in the sierra) and in the southwest, heavy showers right where Arizona and Utah need it most. But most of the Great Lakes are still in a longer-than-usual “third fall” season (they have 3 falls with gale-force winds, 4 arctic winters of which one has passed, a spring that comes and goes in between the last 3 of those winters before sticking around for either 2 days or 2 weeks and then 2 hellish summers with one of the aforementioned 3 falls in between)

I think it’s going to go deeper already watching this “cannon ball” as you rightfully put it in center many of the models runs and members show it gets more intense and go further south, and that means instead of going over the lakes it may march up the Ohio valley into the NE if it does that, It’s a low chance this far out but could happen as well

I hope it isn't like last year's outbreak and gets weaker as it crosses the country. I live in Nashville and that storm knocked out my power and tore part of my roof off. A sizable tree branch just missed my complex's electrical circuits (which is right below where my apartment is) and falling directly on top of my apartment by less than a foot, then the storms that came through New Year's Eve/Day knocked my power out again and tore off the gutter on my building, again, right on the corner where my apartment is. The year before, lightning struck my apartment! Hopefully, those three things met the quota for "things happen in threes" for me. Obviously, not terrible like what happened in Mayfield. I certainly felt extremely lucky that was the only damage and that I still had an apartment I could live in after it came through!

  • MetallicA AlabamA

That next storm has almost the perfect negative tilt shape for a very active 2 days, maybe more. And I honestly think that we will see several very strong weather systems from now through the month of May. This past severe weather/tornado outbreak that we just seen last week was just an atmosphere primer for the string of multiple 🔄 L 's🔄 that will form over the four corners, Texas panhandle area, sweep down over the Arklatex, which some of these will merge with multiple 🔄L's🔄 coming from Canada as it crosses Iowa/ northern Missouri area. From 1900 - 2000 there was at least 1 to 2 decent winter/spring storm systems that would blanket the country from one coast to the next. With 1 major 🤘Banger!🤘 every 8-11 yrs. From 2000 - today it is like 4 decent weather makers with long dry spells between them, but still have that 1 major one every 10 yrs or so, but it's stronger systems. Then back to a dry spell again. I'm sure some of you get what I'm talking about. And I'm not saying those are the exact numbers, just explaining on average. Anyway, just gotta keep paying attention to the weather, and always have respect for the weather, and the forecasters. Just like Ryan says here. They know what they are doing with these forecast, and ol' Ryan Hall Y'all has you covered if it gets to much to bear lol.

    • MetallicA AlabamA
      MetallicA AlabamA 2 місяці тому

@Reiner Agreed! I get what you're saying. Little more on the skeptical side of it. And I am too. I'm more less preparing for what may be on the horizon the coming years. And I wanna go back about mentioning that 15% is becoming more common. And yeah it is becoming more common. But there is also some really up to date technology that helps them to determine when to put those %'s out. So it's not hard to see why that's the case if you know how different the technology is from 5 yrs ago. They just sent up a new Geostationary GOES satellite that's going online next year. And they have been working on a new forecasting technology that has just about figured out and can pinpoint where a supercell is going to rapidly intensify and show whether or not a long track tornado is inevitable. Some of the studies have stated that on the occasions they used this technology, (2018) it was so on point where several supercell storms produced tornadoes, with using the HRRR 18 hr future radar. The problem is figuring out how to keep it consistent with the correct input that gets all the ingredients correct. Eventually they will get it to get within a more comfortable range to use this technology. I can't remember the name of the study. Look up "New technology that will predict tornadoes hours before one even forms." It's a really interesting thing to check out if you're a weather enthusiasts such as myself, it's pretty amazing!

    • Reiner
      Reiner 2 місяці тому +1

@MetallicA AlabamA Apparently the spc has decided to put out 15% in the 5+ day more common now so it isn't as telling as it used to be, of course a 30% would be far more telling if they do happen to issue one for this event.

    • MetallicA AlabamA
      MetallicA AlabamA 2 місяці тому

@ReinerHonestly I would say less than 50% chance. Several model runs have evened it out over the next several days. Last weeks severe storms had some mid layer issues, and the instability really didn't get past the I-20 corridor northward. But looking at the GFS/Euro/Oh Canada/ and the Brexit (the UKmet) models on the prospects on this storm, all have everything from the dew points in the 50°-60°F range, surface temps will be near 70°F with some near 80° F along the gulf coast w/some areas as far north as Tuscaloosa could hit record highs. The only thing that I've seen is will the main dynamics of this system stay more to the midwest, and there will be a pretty decent squall line that rolls through Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Louisiana, Bama, Geawguh, and the retirement home (Flo-Rider). I really don't think the negative tilt will be a big reason there will or won't be storms. I think it's gonna be the jet stream winds that are gonna be very strong. It will all change for sure, but for them to put out that 15% just like the last storm several days before. I think they see the same thing, but are being hesitant on whether or not they go 30% like the last one. Idk, Im not a degree wearing meteorologist, just a shade tree meteorologist lol. I just look at the models like they're a game that I play by guessing what the whether will be. But I really do feel like we are going to see several big systems this winter and spring. And Idk if you have watched any of the old coverage from the '93 March Storm of the Century, but I think we are due for a monster like that one. It will be 30 years ago this coming March. And that's about the time between generational storms.

    • Reiner
      Reiner 2 місяці тому +1

Yeah but what's the chances it stays with that perfect negative tilt a whole week out?

As someone who has lived in the Southeast most of my life it brings back memories of Christmas 1983. My grandma was born on January 24th 1937, high up inside the flooded county hospital, Kentucky side of the river just across from Cincinnati. They called it black Sunday. I have heard stories about it my whole life. They said all of northern Ky, Louisville, Ashland, the whole Ohio valley was under water. I was wondering not long ago what had caused that flood, in the winter time no less, so I looked it up and the answer is excessive rain over a period of weeks

Yeah as someone currently going to college in a climate like that in upstate new york it seems that most of the annual rain in the Great Lakes area is from summertime things like thunderstorms and hurricane remains and the 2 weeks of spring, in the area’s abnormally-long winters it just alternates between chilly clear skies and blizzards every other week. Damn, and the scariest thing is that could actually happen again even with all the dams and other flood-protective infrastructure there now

I live in Portsmouth, Ohio & all of our buildings that were standing in 1937 have the high water mark of the flood painted on the right front corner of the buildings as a marker to memorialize the flood.

I grew up in Louisville and heard about the ‘37 Flood or the Great Flood of ‘37 all my life as well. So many displaced families. They didn’t have shelters like today. Families took in whole families. Eventful era… Great Depression, Dust Bowl, Great Flood, WWII.

Graphics are amazing - but could the lines of isobars be a different colour from country borders? Sometimes is REALLY hard to know where your map is closing in on. Not a criticism - just a thought! ;-)

I am following this event as well. The Dakotas may well be being set up to being slammed with a two day snow event with windspeed reaching 60MPH.

Wow. Yeah. One year since I was out by a campfire and got socked by that heavy wind and rain within minutes. We were getting alerts on phones state by state during the day that weather was coming, but it moved in sudden and hard. Hopefully this year's trip it's just showers.

There was a time in my career where I worked myself to an almost mental breakdown trying to be a hero. At a certain point, there will be a diminishing return on your quality of work no matter how many hours you put into it. You gotta respect yourself, your family, and recharge your batteries in order to keep your quality of work top notch. Thats easier said than done when UAclips rewards constant content uploads. I'd rather have one good Ryan Hall Y'all video than 10 bad ones.

Random story. So when I walked outside my work I saw a tornado about a block away...about that time I was singled out in a group of people by a half door sized piece of debris that hit me in the back of my head squarely. Staples and stitches. Inch lower, wpuldnt ve typing this. The weird thing is I think that tornado saved my life..or at least gave me a chance to save it. The ER doc scanned my head and saw something I had I had no idea about. The nado gave me a heads up. Who needs a pineal gland like everyone elses anyways. I feel healthy, but since then I have strong worries our weather here will continue to be more scary. Mayfield was pretty much my fears coming true. Just a random story. Thanks for analyzing the weather.

As a person from hazard, KY. Whose family lives in tenmile, we do not need more flooding. I almost lost my mother last time and I think we're all traumatized when it comes to a lot of rain.
