“There are two types of people in this world: those who love Neil Diamond and those who don’t . . . my wife loves him”-Bob Wiley from What About Bob?
I couldn’t remember the name of this song, or find it anywhere for literally 25 years...Thanks Quentin.
I'm not here because of once upon a time in Hollywood.
One of my faves from the one and only Neil Diamond!
Tarantino could literally shart into a microphone and people would call it the best shart ever sharted.
Almost. There's the movie once upon a time ...in Hollywood, yeah
Reminds me of my childhood my mother had a lot of his albums❣️
Fits the atmosphere of the Tarantino movie so well. The Tate-Labianca murders happened on two hot august nights in 1969.
It can't be a coincidence. And I really hope it's in the actual movie. I hate when movie companies put awesome songs in trailers but not the actual movie. This had better be in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
“Charlie’s gonna dig you.”
Thank you Quentin Tarantino for reminding me of what an awesome song this was!!!!!!
Quentin Tarantino sent me. Great song that I hadn’t heard in many years.
takes me back to Grammar School short Avenue School Los Angeles
Oh come on what a brilliantly realized song.
This song reminds of being in the army at Fort Bragg in 1969,serving with the 82nd Airborne, MAGA !
Nope, I'm here from a memory of a 1990s movie with David Spade where he lip syncs the song. uaclips.com/video/pMeqDJHAc0Q/відео.html....
This is pretty well the only song of Neil Diamond`s that I like.
I grew up listening to the Tap root manuscript album and Tapestry . Check them out
We all know why we're here. Now, that being said, enjoy the tunes.
I'm sitting here listening to this amazing song realizing that it's only a month away from the 50th anniversary of that "hot August night" where the unimaginable occurred in the hills of southern California. Such a great song, soon to be forever linked to that most horrid of nights' in our nation's history by this upcoming motion picture. And, yes, I will be seeing it.
It doesn't seem possible the hippie era and Woodstock was a freaking half century ago. As crazy as a summer it was with the moon landing, Woodstock, Chappaquiddick and the Manson family murder spree, admist all that, there were my young 20something parents living in Sioux City, Iowa the heartland of America, taking care of my newborn brother, who was born a week before the moon landing. And last week I just helped my brother celebrate his (gasp) 50th birthday!
I love all things Tarantino, Brad Pitt, Margot ("I Tonya"= eff yes) and Leo.But I must say... Leo looks like he is fifteen years older in the trailer.
Elvis and Neil were neighbors in LA
This is simply... incredible 🖤
Can’t wait to see how, or even IF this is put into the movie.
*Charles Manson waves at the camera
What year is this from ?
Charlie's gonna dig you....
He has such a familiar voice
Hollywood, Once Upon a Time in?
Because that's what He's there for
Cannot wait to see Once upon a time in Hollywood! Love this song.
Finest. Neil was absolutely golden during this period. Carol Kaye on Bass? Simply sublime
Brought back by the movie trailer. Great tune.
Read my recent Neil Diamond Dream about Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show(The Dream Cognition Experiment) patrick-patrickscott.blogspot.com/
QT always has the best fucking movie
My brother can bite me.
Enter Charles Manson
What's the matter partner?
For those of you that don't know, "Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show" is on the album Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show and features Neil with a beard dressed as a preacher. This album cover only lasted a few months because when this album was released, Neil recorded "Sweet Caroline" and they pressed new records and added "Sweet Caroline" to the album. A couple of months later Universal Records changed the title of the album to Sweet Caroline and added a brand new album cover with a new photo of Neil. I highly recommend that you check out the other tracks as well because the entire album is excellent.
There are two types of people in this world, those who like Neil Diamond and those who don't. My ex didn't like him.
Neil's best musical Era he rocked
GOT TO SEE THAT NEW QUENTIN MOVIE
I was hearing this as a kid
Here I am, flat on my ass and who do I got living next door to me??
Neil Diamond has been in the music industry for a long time hear he's retiring from music altogether
Luc Timperman thanks for the reply on that Parkinson's disease will rob you when you reach that certain age but I'm glad he's making new music in the 21st century he eventually quit touring
He quit touring due to Parkinson's disease, but he plans to remain active and continue to write and record new music.
That shitty David Spade movie with Artie Lange brought me here
David Spade's Lost and Found brought me here long before Tarantino.
I first heard Neil Diamonds song Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show in late March,1969, a little over 50 years ago. I was a Freshman at Oakcrest High School in Mays Landing,New Jersey then. June 21,1969 I moved from Elwood,New Jersey to Newark,Delaware due to the very high taxes & the 90 minute commute of 55 miles my late father made to the Ridley Township Boeing Complex was taking a toll on him. May 10,1969 was the Centennial of the completion of the first Transcontinental Railroad, July 20,1969 Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon. August,1969 J.Edgar Hoover FBI Dictator who was the mastermind of the 1963 assinations of Civil Rights leader Medger Evers & President(Figurehead) John F.Kennedy died. Richard Nixon was President(Figurehead) then, troop withdrawals from Viet-Nam we’re going on & Richard M.Nixon had the gas prices deregulated.
I cant believe that i had never listen to this song before the trailer but i must say, that Tarantino does sure have a great taste in music, brilliant! The lyrics are so detailed and soulful, you can see the whole situation unfold, and the chorus!! Sublime!
This blows away any of today’s new music.
a song that grabs you and don't let go !!
Love this song.
Im so glad they put this in that new trailer!
You’re Rick Fucking Dalton
Yeah but u still fired
Theres a revival slightly more intense like the one Niel describes in his song.. going on wed-sunday. Type 'Jerame Nelson' or 'Fire and Glory outpouring'.. I got healed from severe allergies watching it through the live stream.
BROOKLYN BOY --- did a lot of junk including that ridiculous movie The Jazz Singer -- but when he was great HE WAS GREAT
he could make me go to the show.
Remember this song from 68. His best song
QT crushes it yet again...
Yea yea NEIL DIAMOND is why I am here!!!!
HEY! You're Rick FN Dalton....don't you forget it.
RIP Neil Diamond ☹️
3:07 is amazing
Who came here before Once Upon a Time in Hollywood trailer? I know I did :)
When he lets go half the valley shakes... QT knows how to use music in his movies, don't think anybody else is better at that
Who else here because of Tarantino's film.
Great song! Very catchy! Can't wait for Tarintino's new film!
I love how this song plays as the Tate/Manson storyline kicks in on the second part of the trailer for Tarantino's new film, the start of this song fits in perfect for that story.
'Good Thing' by Paul Revere and the Raiders is in that Trailer too.
@Matt Dillon they never mention that. Thanks for the info
Interestingly Mark Lindsay lived in the Cielo Dr house with Terry Melcher before Polanski and Tate moved in
He wrote quite a few songs for the Monkees 😉😀🐒
Neil Diamond recorded a lot of schlock..but also some fine tunes too..this is one.
this jam helped me get through Vietnam great memories
Yay, Neil Diamond!
Mmm, that's a nice song.
Watch this hit the charts again on !tunes and @mazon just from that trailer :)
For the first time in a long time I am actually excited about a new movie coming out!
Me too. I’m not really into superhero movies. It will be good to see a good movie with original content, and not the 10th sequel.
Charlie's gonna dig this
So many are songs are just words smashed together. Neil Diamond actually tells a story.
Reminds me of deep eastern Kentucky and Baptist tent revivals, I went there in the summers when I visited my Grandma. Life sent me all over the world where I partied with movie stars and sailed the oceans but what brings me peace and calm? Those simple times, good music and memories of family.
Will never be able to get the picture of leonardo in swimming pool and Brad walking the Manson ranch outta my head when I hear this song thanks again Quentin.
As a native Valley Girl who vividly remembers the summer of 1969, when everything changed in L.A., these lyrics foretold the future:"Starting soft and slow, like a small earthquakeAnd when he lets go, half the valley shakes..."
p.s. After seven people were slaughtered on two successive "hot August nights," everybody in Los Angeles was completely freaked out. People bought guns and alarm systems, hired guards, and put up gates, all in this horrified paranoid frenzy. Nobody knew who was committing these murders, and nobody knew if they would be the next targets. The Manson Family didn't get busted until five months later. In the meantime, the mothers drove all of us kids back and forth to school because they were afraid we'd get snatched up by these unknown murderous fiends. Sadly, much of the city's magic went away forever after that.
Embarrass yourself like that in front of all the goddamn people!!!
I know the song is about southern tent revivals but in the context of the OUATIH trailer it comes off as an interesting critique of hippie religious movements. Eerily, it describes Manson to a T - especially with the 'when he lets go/half the valley shakes' line. Not only that, but this single was released in January '69 so it's almost creepy how prescient this song was. It's another weird example of the cultural collective unconscious having a bit of foresight into radically altering events. Like how people say certain movies/songs/tv shows predicted 9/11 and shit. Or maybe I'm crazy and reading too much into it lol. Good song though.
“It’s official, old buddy...”
EXINOS,“Hey! You’re Rick f^cking Dalton. Don’t you forget it.”
I'm a has-been
You know there was once upon a time in Hollywood.......
Once Upon A Time in Hollywood Neil Diamond
Thank you Mr. Tarantino for reminding us how cool the 70's were!!!!!!!!!
"Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show" was recorded in January 1969 and released as a single January 29, 1969.
Louis you use to be beautiful.
I wish Tarantino was Dr Frankenstein! Every thing he brings back from beyond is FUCKIN INCREDIBLE
Get really for all the incoming retards and halfwits for the next 2 years saying Once Upon in Hollywood brought me here.
Oh look there's one now! lol
Tarantino is the master of twisting popular music in his movies. Cannot wait to see this film, and the Manson angle is already freaking me out:Room gets suddenly still and when you'd almost betYou could hear yourself sweat he walks inEyes black as coal and when he lifts his faceEvery ear in the place is on himStartin' soft and slow like a small earthquakeAnd when he lets go half the valley shakesHALF THE VALLEY SHAKES. For anyone interested, the Neil Young song Revolution Blues is a frightening one about Manson "I see bloody fountains and ten million dune buggies coming down the Mountain / Well I hear the Laurel Canyon is full of famous stars, but I hate them worse than lepers, and I'll kill them in their cars" Apparently Neil Young was on the Manson hit list.uaclips.com/video/2yK504X_wvs/відео.htmlAnd another truly freaky song by Death Grips with the Manson intro. uaclips.com/video/-qxa91EwFco/відео.html
Tarantino is a genius selecting the music of his pics
