More about UBOAT (from Steam):
UBOAT is a simulator of a submarine from WWII era, yet different than all you have seen so far. It is a survival sandbox with crew management mechanics while its primary theme is life of German sailors. The boat is their home, but it can become their grave at any time.
In UBOAT you control the crew in order to control the boat. You look after their physical and mental health, because if the sailors are hungry, tired and their spirit is low, there’s no chance of winning even a skirmish.
The extensive damage system is a foundation of the game's survival elements. Unprecedented situations are bound to happen as the effect of received damage, testing player's creativity and ability to stay calm. You can try to save the whole crew or leave someone behind, to save the others.
While your ship travels through the open seas, you will often find yourself being on your own. Use your management skills to spend resources taken on the trip optimally and in special cases try to recover them on the sea, by asking your allies for the help... or by looting wreckages of enemy ships.
Disable unnecessary devices, to keep your accumulators running for longer.
Tell your crew to stay in their bunks to preserve oxygen.
If crew's morale is low - play with them a session of Skat or play music from nearby radio stations, to fortify their hearts.
During the playthrough you will receive assignments from the Kriegsmarine headquarters. They are never linear and you may receive additional orders during them or face unexpected problems.
Brave completion of assignments from the headquarters is rewarded with additional budget for the unit under your command and with acceptance of your growing reputation as an u-boat's skipper. You will need that, to upgrade your ship and keep up with enemy's technological advances.
Upgrade your boat for the rewarded funds.
Receive additional permissions for the reputation points.
Buy new equipment - new torpedo types, sonar decoys, CO2 absorbers and much more.
Send your officers on special tasks in the headquarters to, among other things, speed up a research of new technologies.
Game's simulation elements are very realistic, but that never comes at a cost of gameplay quality. Despite extensive simulation elements, UBOAT can be played like a regular game and complex matters can be learned later to become a better skipper for the commanded unit.
Even small things like the influence of ballast in each compartment on the ship's trim (tilt) or Earth's curvature are faithfully reproduced in the game.
Perfection can be achieved in many ways. Prove your management skills and swiftly assign work to your officers to speed things up. If, on the other hand, you think that if something needs to be done, it's better to do that on your own - sit behind the periscope, hydrophone or 88 mm deck gun and take matters in your own hands!

It's surprisingly easy to beach a submarine. Who knew?
You're the only guy to drive an underwater vehicle and instantly wonder how well it does on land
Let's Game It Out i absolutely love your videos man
Being a German, I can confirm : This is how we roll.
3:33 - ‘I’m planning on showing *everyone* that *nothing* is safe at *any* place’
That’s the spirit
More like Zät's zä zpirit.
Anyone realize that this was at 333 which is half of 666?
So soll das sein!
You executed someone in the tutorial? Damn, that escalated quickly.
That’s nazis for ya
@Pyroboss 101 that's discipline enforcement in war, plenty of such on all sides (but yeah, nazis suck)
So are the allies and all sides.
he had it coming=)
For.sleeping on the job to
Just reading the title of this video reminded me of the story where in WW1, some of the Australian Army troops got bored, so they decided to steal a German tank and take it back to Australia as a trophy. We still have it on display in Brisbane.
How does one take a German tank despite them being a rare thing?
@Erich von Donitz They’re Australian, logic doesn’t apply to them
@Erich von Donitz they are Australian. Their home continent was first used as a prison for the British empire. They share their habitat with some of the most venomous animals on earth and massive spiders. Also platypus.
Yeah at this point, I’m sure a stealing mere German tank aren’t even 10% of what these guy are capable of doing if they have enough free time on their hands.
@Erich von Donitz It got stuck in the sand and was left by it's crew. So the Australians really didn't "steal" it, they just made the effort to take it back with them, not being good for anything else
How did they bring it to Austrailia?
My boss : "Sleeping on the job, eh?"
@HappyBeezerStudios - by Lord_Mogul XD i can't stop laughing
I did use to take 5 min breaks at work with total relaxation and eyes closed during the day, my boss caught me many times doing it not saying anything just giving me a disapproving look :) But I was getting the job done better and faster then other he had on that job so I guess he was happy even if it seemed a bit strange to be sleeping in the middle of a busy day :)
Worst part of this channel is waiting for the next upload
Wow I think this is the first time I've gotten more than 3 likes
try following sovietwomble if you think once in two weeks is too long.
Worth it though
uhh 666 likes...
Techy Plays i was ur like 1000nd like
*every other UBOAT player* “This is a serious game, meant to be taken seriously.”
*Josh* - “Hold my bratwurst while I don mein lederhosen.”
"I now understand that the allies mean business."
This is historically hilarious
They have no stomach for war, they'll roll over and beg for peace: Some guy fond of tan suits.
That crew looks like they're going to walk into a bar and order an extremely complicated and rare martini.
3 ounces GRAND CRU Gin ; 1 ounce of Kauffman Luxury Private Collection Vintage vodka ; 1/2 ounce Lillet blanc aperitif - shaken not stirred of course. Garnish: Meyeri lemon twist
just one to share?
"Oh, so the plot of the book Hunt for Red October?"
"Oh, so the plot of Hunt for Red October if the pilot was absolutely insane."
That's a great replacement title for this video. "Hunt for Red October If the Pilot Was Absolutely Insane"
@Let's Game It Out Hunt for Red October but I'm a War Criminal
Hunt for red october but the crew is incompetent
More like the movie "Das Boot" this this is literally the submarine of that film
Let's Game It Out please rename that to the title for like one hour and you will cause very confused humans.
Homeboy up to his neck in water (yet still wearing his sunglasses and with pipe rakishly set between his teeth) is the funniest thing I've ever seen.
"A mere 13281km. If my math is correct that's about... half a mile." LMAO
cocopuffs13001 wait that’s not correct......
@女軽薄な of course it is not, it's suppose to be half a feet
It's 6 miles. But you can do it in 4 if you're fast.
@P I don't know why I got a speeding ticket the other day, the police officer said the speed limit was 55 miles per hour and I was trying to explain to him that I was not going to be out that long.
@P Actually, if you are going at relativistic speeds, everything around you seems to be shorter. So if you are moving at ~ 0.3 Gm/s, 13281km can seem like half a mile...
Game developers: Hey, can you test out my game? I'll give it a free copy
LGIO: Sure, I want to have a great time.
*Finds every possible bug in the game*
Also LGIO: My job is done here, next game.
they should even pay him as a playtester.
Imagine being part of a submarine crew in battle and your captain looks at a torpedo rushing toward the boat and says "What do you suppose that is right there?"
...when the ships were ramming you... i thought "oh! so historically accurate!" because that was a viable strat. U-94 was rammed then boarded by dudes barefoot, shirtless and in shorts. fun read. so! yeah... ramming speed!
Honestly, this makes me want to get this game and hope defection becomes an actual mechanic. Like, it looks like it could be a lot of fun and it'd be interesting to play a game that actually let's you change sides.
I kind of hope that this is just how he talks in real life all the time, with no pauses, just a constant flow of whatever is going on around him.
They should totally add a 'defect' option
That would be so great.
@Let's Game It Out my comments never get replied to... MY LIFE IS COMPLETE
Seeing as 75%> of the U-boot crews died at some point during the war, I doubt you'd live long enough to explain that you were defecting lmao
@METRO it still might be a nice thing to add. maybe have it be its own little game mode or difficulty setting, not really historically accurate, but just for some kind of challenge.
A "defect" ending.
I love when Josh is just whispering silently, for some reason it's pretty funny.
"I love even the loading screens, because it's got 4 hipsters all deciding who's going to shoot the gun."
Most accurate WWII simulator ever?
3:01 Give Josh a submarine game and he turns it into the General MacArthur simulator.
Just as a little side note, the U in U-Boot stands for "Untersee" which translates to "Under sea" and Boot meaning (small) Ship. So its a ship thats under water/sea.
Sometimes we germans arent so complicated after all. Also we name literally anything "stuff": The words for Plane, Lighter, and Toy would be literally "flying stuff" "fire stuff" and "playing stuff".
That peek under the hood of the German language is almost as funny as this whole video. Danke. (I don't know how to type umlauts)
I always assumed it translated to something like "underwater boat"
But "submarine" means "undersea" anyway so
Dont forget shield toad XD
@MonkeyJedi99 idk if you already know by now, but long press(hold down) any letter on the keyboard for more options
@Naomi All I get is the letter (or number or symbol) in repetition, as such:
As someone who has watched the director's cut of Das Boot several times, I have to say that his style of playing is morbidly and historically accurate.
I'm sitting on a US Navy ship right now watching this video. When the bells started ringing on your U-boat I got a little confused and started jumping up to go fight a fire.
James Kelsey same
Wait, u guys on duty?
James Kelsey you guys get internet?
I like how Josh made everyone into Andrew Tate before Andrew Tate was a thing
You're so damn hysterical, I'm crying at the "4 hipsters all deciding who's gonna shoot the gun part" ; _ ;
I couldn't control my laugh when he started dressing the men. 😂😂
You deserve more appreciation than you have, I stumbled upon you by a sheer accident and I'm in love
i love your videos and style, josh. I laugh every time I watch your videos and I laugh so hard my mom doesn't know if Im laughing or crying
I feel kinda bad...*shoots again*...well not that bad...
Kisuke Urahara lo
@Avery 123 l
I finished your lol. No need to thank me, just doing God's work.
@Marijuana know something? says "thank you"
I'm so happy I found this. It's like graystillplays level of breakage, but a little higher, with extra humor and more variety. This is amazing!
The scale and detail of this game is truly impressive
“a mere 13281 km. if my math is correct, that’s about… half a mile” literal tears in my eyes
The fact that he was surprised that his boat got rammed makes me laugh. The most effective way to sink a submarine was and still is to just ram it. The ship will cut the sub in two
this guy's full potential unleashes in strategy building games
I would want you to test my games. I am certain you would find almost every bug.
just be an absolute menace and disrespect your work, bugs start appearing easy.
i know right..
he played on of our games (Rescue HQ) and man it was hilarious. Our grace did not have a good time
Just play your game exactly how you don't want it to be played
Really love your channel, I found it recently when you started hitting really high numbers and I’ve gone back so many months in your catalog of videos and watched them all. So glad your channel exists!
Same here too
Your commentary makes even the most boring games enjoyable :).
Wonder if you can make Solitaire or Minesweep more enjoyable, haha.
I don't think that's possible. Solitaire and Minesweeper are the most exciting games in the world!
laciee games not actually boring, it’s a lot of fun. Different strokes for different folks I guess
I laughed more and more constantly at your videos that almost any "professional" TV show. It reminds me of every game I've ever gotten too bored to play right, but not rich enough to buy better games.
The tired, defeated, yet excited chuckle after announcing it's a sponsored video. I live for it.
Stephan: *Takes a nap*
Guy: *Chooses execution*
Stephan:AlL fOr A nAp?!
Found this channel last week and already have my group of buddies all obsessed too! Easily the best gaming channel I've found in the last 10 years!
You're hilarious and the channel's gonna be 1 million in four months. Congratulations from today.
This man will break every game he plays
As a german, I can confirm this is completely accurate.
Rarely comment on videos and don’t follow gamer channels, but your content is gold! Really enjoying the stuff, keep it up, hope you get the subs you deserve!
They should actually make a game exactly like this, but as a tank commander.
The cross section view kind of reminded me of bomber crew. Also, with those bigger flack guns and mounted artillery, most of the time it took multiple people to operate during world war 2.
This game actually looks like it has some potential!
Nice work Capt. Brannigan. I'm genuinely impressed by the scope of your success.
Gotta admit i started watching you 2 days ago and i binged ALL of your videos. Best day ever. Thanks for the content i love it.
This channel is so awesome I love that you play the games wrong find glitches and find the funniest things to do
I'm so happy you are receiving the support you deserve!
It's great how you do everything possible to mess with the games. Keep up the great content!
the game was a mess before he even touched the mouse
I absolutely love the videos you put out, better than some of the million sub channels out here. Keep it up
I remember walking inside of the Uboat 505 is chicago and that thing was tight and cramped. Could not imagine being on one of those in actual frantic combat.
What's funny is I sweated that exact mission for weeks. Damn you, Josh.
As for you getting to America unscathed, there was actually a U-boat found in the narragansett bay near the naval port in Rhode island.
I don't know how I found this channel about a week ago, but I am so happy that I did! I'm laughing hysterically right now. X'D
"first lets do the normal check"😂😂 never had a video got a smile on my face in the first 5 seconds
Another great video filled with comedy!
I can't get over how funny these things are. 😂
Another fun run. This game looks really cool I gotta say
This guy is essentially a debugger who understands video content
A u-boat full of Adrew Tate, well, this will be fun.
haha...thanks man, I literally laughed through the whole review. love how everyone gets a pipe and dr strangelove glasses
Buddy, your content is great. You are funny, and your edits are on point, subbed.
oh my god, you've literally made me tear up with laughter! well done!
Quite possibly the best game review I've ever watched.
Technically you are cooking on diesel and electric but i cant help to love how you deal with these games lol
Holy shit the youtube algorithm showed me a good channel for once. I've been binge watching you my entire weekend, i already loved tycoon/sim games but somehow you make them even better. Keep up the good work man!
I’m pretty sure you ran your submarine into New York’s floating Barge jail.
If you did a series on this, I would watch the SHIT out of it
Game: please preform this simple task
Josh: and i took that personally
Glad to see this channel grow so fast from just a year ago
Hey Josh i've never seen someone gain this much subs in this period of time, congrats man keep it up!
This is so wrong...and so good at the same time. Dude, you're so funny as hell
What a funny episode i laughed the whole time. " Are you coming to Tony Hawk our boat again" 🤣🤣🤣 Subbed and belled bro, keep the funnies coming👍
Pretty sure they gave him a key to the game to see if josh can break the game in anyway so they can fix it.. since you know.. josh breaks every game
Wow man your subscribers are going to the sky as expected . Keep up the good work man
i just witnessed this dude turned german UBOAT sailors into the most thug life ppl i have ever seen 3:00
Dude you're getting big! I started watching your videos when you were at 25k! Congrats man and keep up the good work!
Ok, but imagine what he would be like in a normal fps game.
Can I just say... I love it when frame rate sometimes goes loopy when I glitch.
Wow man , I genuinely love your videos. And im glad i found your channel
That submerging to it being just a few meters deep made my day XD
Ah, yes. I always knew we could drive a submarine like a jet ski, I knew it!
All these developers sending this man game keys cause he’s the ultimate key to finding bugs
This game looks like it will have a lot of potential. I'm going to check it out!.
Your videos are really fun to enjoy I watch them all the time in class 😂
BenjiMan4K do your homework!
In all seriousness, if this actually receives proper animations and work, it could be pretty cool
The Uniform of your crew makes them look like 80's Supervillian henchmen.
Btw ramming a U boat was one of the methods to sink an U boat. One of the most used methods actually as there were alot of ships not capable to battle an U boat any other way
It looks like a submarine full of Andrew Tate clones
I like how the city at the beginning is named Wilhelmshaven wich always was and still is one of the biggest naval Bases for the German Navy for over a hundert years.
I've watched you play two games tonight and I grabbed both of them. Whatever you're getting paid, it isn't enough. Subbed and belled.
That's awesome to hear! Whichever games they were, I hope you enjoy them. If one of them was UBOAT, godspeed and shoot at boats a bunch.
this whole channel is 10/10 content
"Here's some meats." I laughed way too hard.
You watch enough of these that when he said "Can you walk in water? No, the game is smarter than that", you realize that if you could walk in water, that would be the rest of the episode.
