What Your Most Used EXOTIC WEAPON Says About You... (Destiny 2)

- Bit of a different video but it was too good of an idea to pass up. This is what your favorite exotic weapon says about what kind of player you are in destiny 2
There was this one thread on twitter or reddit I believe that was the inspiration for this, when searching I could not find it but if anyone knows of the original post, contact me and I can link it here

Forgot some exotics...
Tommy's matchbook - you're part of the tiny group of people that actually remember this exotic exists. Seriously, I'm putting this bit here because I forgot to put it in my script.
Trespasser - you can't wait for arc 3.0 to come out so you can see what kind of synergies this thing will be capable of.
Heartshadow - much like vex mythoclast, you also probably put in a cheat code to get this
I've got a Tommy's sitting in my vault I haven't touched in like, a year lmao
Tommy's goes unbelievably hard. It is genuinely the best AR in the game and idk why people are sleeping on it
Seriously, go give Tommy's a run in crucible and I swear you won't go back.
As someone who always has tommy’s in my inventory, I’m sad to see it’s not used as often
you forgot skyburners oath.

"careful, he's a hero"
@onyx swordsman yes he is
Tommy's matchbook? 👀
I liked the sweet business because.... I'm a titan main.
Honestly, beside the fact its a minigun, the fact you could set up a build and just continously fire while slow walking into a horde of enemies, never having to reload because you picked up an ammo box, was badass in my opinion
Aye, Sweet Business bros! Nice 👉
haven't got it, but intend to main it when I do
@Fighting Hawk You should be able to get it from the Exotic kiosk in the Tower. Just save up a few resources, get Actium War Rig for the exotic perk and you're in for a good time. Over 70k kills on mine after I got the catalyst, probably close to that before I got the catalyst. Good luck and hope to see you out there Guardian! 👍
My own take on Wish-Ender: "You most likely got this bow before the Forsaken vaulting and used it near exclusively due to funny damage model and were absolutely devastated during Risen when it didn't do double damage anymore. You feel validated now that it does triple damage and breaks barriers innately."
I remember getting mine a week before it got nerfed the first time, lol
I do indeed love using it when barriers become a pain.
Better than arbalest no special ammo and works for clearing adds.
Wishender and oathkeepers are an undefeated combo imo
@sporkkee I loved using that combo in pve for a long time.
5:13 personally the reason i love skyburners oath (both pre and post rework) is because of a couple of reasons.
1. it go doof doof and makes brain happy
2. my titan's whole theme is cabal and so it just fits perfectly
Oh boy, wait till you equip lion rampants too
I relate to the doof doof on a spiritual level
@yoogni good shit
I don't know why, but I love using Revision Zero. Maybe because the exotic mission is easy on normal difficulty, provides good recoil, bad ammo economy, but also good DPS cause of the sniper ability. I also like how each of the tracer upgrades added a cosmetic piece to the gun. Where you can still change if you want that new piece on the gun or not
Risk Runner isn't just for new lights, the 50% arc Dr is extremely useful in Day 1 raids
Yiiiiis!
Risk runner is a good SMG anytime you're fighting Fallen (Or the limited other enemy types that use arc damage, or can dip your foot in vex goo.) Ultima chain damage.
Also you can nade yourself to proc arc conductor and use it to 100% effectiveness everywhere
The outbreak perfected was the weapon that made us get through caretaker day one, we literally dump all of our damage on the first rotation then we swapped
Same lol, I don't think my team would've finished the encounter without it
Outbreak is _still_ my most used exotic in both PvE and Crucible, somehow. This is a remnant from back when they released it, when it was significantly more powerful than it is now.
Dead Man's Tale is a shadow of its former self. That fire-rate bump when not aiming? It's only just perceptible now. They took everything about it that made it powerful and really sold the cool factor.
I don’t remember outbreak getting a nerf other than the indirect nerf of auto loading well of radiance being removed
Sunshot will always be my favourite. Love the design, sound and many explosions
I mostly use Quiclsilver Storm because it does decent Auto Rifle damage, the Mini Rockets can easily finish enemies and fire often while doing good damage.
The grenades (which are created quickly because of Mini Rockets) do a lot of damage. I’ve seen it do from 24,000 to 80,000 on bosses.
I also spent $100 for it so yeah…definitely want to use it
the only thing that i dont like gameplay wise on that gun is the time it needs to switch firemodes just feels too long for such a fast paced game
@Doncatolive I can see that, but I’ve used it so much I’ve learned how to use it without it being a problem😂
I have so much time on that gun.
Try running Quicksilver Storm with a Titan's Actium War Rig; chances are you'll wind up with two, if not all three grenades in the barrel. Turns it from a pump action? grenade launcher to a semi-auto one lol
@Matt Edwards That’s a good idea if I was a person who maimed Titan.
I could probably put that weapon on all three classes by grabbing it from my collections, but I barely ever use my Titan.
But if that works that’s a really smart thing to do.
I’m a Hunter main if your wondering.
@Matt Edwards im titan main so thats an option have to get it though i played the realease of the game and didnt play any dlc i returned 2 weeks ago so my exotic collection is non existent xD
I’ve sworn by leviathans breath for ages and was so happy when they added archers tempo, which I assume is around when this video released. I used to only use it in gambit for the free body shot kills, but now with tempo and intrinsic volatile (it doesn’t say it has it, but I’ve tested and it definitely does) it’s such a fun weapon. It’s only downside is it’s not super viable against bosses with quick damage phases, like third encounter RoN or caretaker since you have to switch plates a bunch. During contest RoN I topped the damage from my team, using only Levi and tether, while they were all using starfire + rockets
Witherhoard is my all time favourite for almost all builds (I main warlock and hunter) because it's super versatile and has great DPS/crowd control, but the riskrunner can do a shit ton of damage against taken and fallen. It's the exotic that got me to solo flawless prophecy as an arc warlock and I still love it to this day 👌
Also good when thralls are around their claws are arc damage. When I was working on the catalyst and facing hive I let one hit me just to proc it's effect
Yep your own grenades could proc riskrunner so even if there wasn't reliable arc damage coming around you could still clear ads with the infinite magazine if you wanted your primary for something else.
of note about Skyburner's, it's handy as a free source of scorch as a primary weapon, and combos really well with the Weighted Throwing Knife's intrinsic auto-ignition on any even lightly-scorched target
As an Ace of Spades enjoyer I can confirm it’s really hard to see it not be it’s absolute best😢
*Sad Cayde-6 noises*
Honestly, Osteo Striga is applicable in all situations. It's now broken with the Strand and Solar for Warlocks. Just pair with Necrotic Grip and watch the chaos unfold XD
I used to exclusively run Riskrunner with a shotty and Skullfort back when I was a noob, but after several years I picked it back up and found myself really enjoying it in both pvp and pve. Severely underrated gun that just feels really good to use.
Cloudstrike is arguably the second most versatile exotic next to witherhoard. but the key difference is Cloudstrike requires aim, awareness, and good prioritizing skills. while Witherhoard is fire and forget half the time. so the difference becomes ease of access. For Cloudstrike, if you can check the skill boxes, it is the superior gun.
I personally use skyburner's because it pairs with a certain hunter build for infinite weighted throwing knives that explode and make nearby enemies explode. It's good at doing a small amount of scorch without killing everything for damage than sunshot while doing the same basic thing
What specifics do you use with that build?
Also it reminds me of a bolter from Warhammer 40k
@A Knightbro fr, I made a hunter build with raginhild, and sky burner and made a matching hunter outfit to make me look like a blood angel
Same though I used Spine for a tripmine build with it, now I use sunshot since it’s my one of my favorite guns and on occasion will whip sky burner or Polaris out
@Cruixia bonus points if you use tap the trigger on a trace rifle so it's like a lasgun.
I love riskrunner so much. I'm using it on my devour warlock build to just wade into hordes of enemies mowing them all down while being pretty much invincible. It's so good at CC it's not even funny.
I love arc grenading myself just to clear the floor
Same I love riskrunner
Risk is good. But the zhalo supercell from D1 was better
@Michael schmitter I played d1 a lot, but I never actually got to try that one out lol. I was always mostly a solo player, so raids were hard to come by, and I didn't get many exotics.
@Robert Yocum Zhalo was essentially Riskrunner, but much more range, didn't require taking arc damage to chain lightning, and getting getting kills charged your super and refill the magazine. You'd get a full super in 20 seconds. Only thing Zhalo doesn't have is the arc damage resist
Polaris is just satisfying. The sound design, the visuals, it just feels good to use. I just wish it would receive a buff to help it out.
After the infinite primary ammo update & Solar 3.0 Update, Polaris Lance has become my favorite exotic. Its really good now.
I love the red death exotic. You’ll heal after an elimination which was great in my opinion. Wish I could use the red death again, but not sure if it’s in Destiny 2.
It was brought back in the form of a burst fire hand cannon called crimson
I like to main Crimson on my titan. The heal on kill mechanic compliments the tankyness of the class well, meaning i can soak up just that much more damage that would have otherwise killed me. also the instant reload on precision kill allows me to just keep popping them heads for as long as i want (or untill i miss lol) pair that with a slug shotgun for close range DPS and the chain of command LMG for targets that are out of reach for crimson and i got a pretty nice setup
Xenophage is the exotic I always keep coming back to, great for killing champions quickly, no damage falloff and respectable boss DPS. Plus I had a really fun time with my friend getting it and I just live the feel/sound of firing it. P.S. Video is accurate haha.
Same it’s funny how accurate it is
For me, it’s Vex Mythoclast. I’ve always loved 450 auto rifles (started playing season of the chosen, and my first was a elemental capacitor slidshot seventh seraph carbine that I still have to this day), and As a 390, Vex feels amazing to me. Hits hard, it’s accurate, versatile in range given its optic and linear fusion mode, and the audio work scratches an itch somewhere in my brain. I also did not in fact put in a cheat code to get it, and instead chased that gun for roughly a year. So uh. Yeah. There’s that too
That's my crucible gun and it took me like 7 years to get it haha
Fighting Lion and Whisper are my personal favorites. Fighting Lion is my highest kill weapon across every archetype, including autos. I just started using Whisper again because I saw the catalyst was available for unlock and then fell in love with it and refuse to take it off unless I want to use Fighting Lion.
you must be happy with the fighting lion buff this season then :D
riskrunner surprisingly accurate, and i never played d1 but hawkmoon is just so satisfying especially with that "caw" you get when at 7 stacks of paracausal shot. also, its a poor mans linear fusion as well with that final round
At this point, I am really enjoying Quicksilver Storm. Works well in all game modes. I play all classes, but at this moment, I have been using mostly my titan for a bit, and previously enjoyed Sweet Business with my titan, but the micro homing rockets and grenades with Quicksilver Storm have me killing it right now...
Are you the titan I saw with 300,000 kills on his sweet business in crucible not that long ago?
@Walker8750 I honestly have no clue how many kills I have on Sweet Business...
Quicksilver Storm plus catalyst (and unfortunately -40% damage boost to redbars that exotics get) is just....Insanity I love it so much. That said perpetualis and Rufus' Fury somehow are even nuttier.
Right now Vexcalibur is my go to running a synthos titan grapple-melee/tangle build. I wonder if it will change when I finally get the legs and go for the infinite suspend build.
Fun fact. I got TWO 1k voices on my first run through back when it came out lmao. My team was FURIOUS
Edit: oh hey ember lmao. That was very fast lol. Hope your nights going well 😂
While izanagi’s burden isn’t necessarily my favorite, it is one I use a lot right now and the description was scarily accurate.
This is as someone who uses izzy, ikelos sr, and hezen in a dragon’s shadow rotation for max dps first round who then switches to young spine for the rest.
That said. Heartshadow is my favorite and it took a great many runs to get my favorite sword in the game.
I actually dramatically increased my kill count and survival in crucible using Cerberus+1. Its damage output and wide kill box make takedowns much easier. I went from getting one shotted, to 10+ kill streaks.
Mine is and always will be Outbreak. Nobody I know can argue it’s both useful for ads and bosses. It’s sick as hell to look at and hear and it was my favourite exotic quest from d1 as I did it with no help from UAclips and loved every moment of it!
Fr outbreak is such a slept on weapon, it really is the all rounder workhorse weapon, good boss dps, awesome ad clear, and it shows just how hard of a worker it is when you’re under light or in legendary/high end difficulty activities
As a Sunshot main, I do love explosions. Was using Thorn + Necrotic Grips, but this just does that better (read: with more explosions).
I'm so torn between Trinity Ghoul, Osteo Striga and Le Monarque. I'll always love Trinity Ghoul because some random guy saved my life with it when I was a new player, and I was suitably awed by the electric explosions-- great for ad clear, but not super strong against bosses.
Le Monarque is my go-to for Gambit, unless I feel like running Lament instead. I enjoy its accuracy and it has great dps potential, but only in a situation where you can focus.
Osteo Striga, with the catalyst, has been carrying me through Lightfall. I've come to appreciate its versatility with both ad clearing and boss damage, plus the sound it makes when it hits stuff really tickles my brain in a good way.
In summary-- Trinity Ghoul takes #1 in my heart, Striga comes in second for sheer usefulness, leaving Le Monarque at a solid third for its fun factor, invader-deletion capabilities, and nice situational damage.
Striga gang :)
You may have to reevaluate Osteo Striga with how well it works with Strand! Seriously: Osteo/Necrotic Grips/Strand combo is so much fun!
Telesto…
With a void well build…
And devour…
And volatile rounds…
And Nezarec’s sin…
Haven’t played since BL but yeah I loved my witherhoard versatility. Jötunn was my beloved Skytoaster before 3.0 and I loved Outbreak simply because I loved its mission. Seriously I would return to destiny just to carry people through whisper and zero hour if they ever came back.
In my opinion symmetry feels really good in pvp, especially when the map has longer distances.
Outbreak is my most used exotic, comes in clutch on day 1’s legendary activities and any higher difficulty activities or anything where I’m under light, it’s also a solid gambit and crucible weapon and has great ad clear capabilities. It truly is the all-in-one workhorse weapon
Skyburners oath synergizes really well with my solar hunter build. Also, one of the few exotic weapons I own.
The Lament because a perfect five light attacks and a heavy attack and satisfying AF
Definitely in my top 5 for sure, despite not being super meta right now
I thought you only gotta do 3 light 1 heavy?
Even though I almost never use the function in gameplay the answer is simpler than this- "haha chainsword go brrrrt"
@ViiRal that correct for sustained dps. This way your energy fills always enough for this combo to be infinite. 5 light 1 heavy is for most enemys the instant nuke
As a Malfeasance mainliner I have only one thing to say: Keep using Witherhoard because you enable us even more
A couple of ‘em really made me laugh.
Especially the one on Eyes. The ‘never trust a Gambit main’ brought forth an audible laugh.
Just because it took me two days to Guild 9 this season.
I hate invading.
And Two Tailed Fox isn’t awful with the new catalyst. Gonna have all kinds of debuffs now.
The lumina and travelers chosen ones were spot on
Dude the Sweet Business description of “you’re a titan main… that’s literally it”. Was absolute spot on. It was the first exotic I got in Destiny 2 back on day 1 and I’ve now got like 3.5 million kills with it. Lol
I've been using risk rubber as a new player in dungeons and legendary campaigns and it has served me quite well.
Its always fun to see my mates being surprised by how much damage Deathbringer does
Just gotta hope they don’t also decide to use it. Hopefully bungo will allow more than 1 person to use it.
Sweet business is my most used, and I've been a Warlock main since D1. I love throwing down Arc Rifts, and mag dumping enemies.
Before I got Sweet Business, my main Exotic was Solar Shot.
I mained the Sweet Business in Crucible to harness the powah of the Schwarzenegger bloodline. I mained the Fighting Lion back in Y1 because of ammo and shenanigans. I mained Tractor Canon on my Shadowshot Hunter to seriously mine some salt in Mayhem.
I've been maining Forerunner this season. Between shield piercing sidearms and volatile rounds a proccing for everyone, the forerunner, void surros sidearm, and Tricksleeves has proven very spicy this season.
Outbreak perfected, I played solo alot and got bored of the story around cult of Osiris so I started role-playing with my guardian as a fanatic who viewed rasputin as the true savior of humanity, thus I primarily use rasputin designed weapons.
Hard Light: A crutch for all three shield types on Legendary Witch Queen. Otherwise ttk is counted in minutes.
Forerunner: For when you rely on racking up precision hits, but even the dps of Ace of Spades with Lucky Pants just isn’t cutting it anymore. Because even with Special ammo, ttk is counted in minutes.
Tractor Cannon: For Nightfalls with a lot of ledges to knock annoying Overshield Champions back into the pits of hell where they came from. Because once again, ttk is counted in minutes.
That's brutal. You insulted weapons lol. I don't like hard light very much. Dmg has to be from ricochet or there's none at all and it's not like you have that time or ability. Still, there's many better weapons
@Your Father On the contrary, I'm insulting the ttk of higher difficulties. Hard Light is my go-to for completing Lost Sector challenges due to its ability to combat all shield types and work wonders in Lost Sector close quarters (Often powerful enemies will stand their ground, allowing for chipping away at them from behind cover).
Forerunner is my favorite kinetic weapon, I only wish exotic revolvers could have some redeeming qualities compared to it. It has more range, more ads zoom, more damage on precision hits than even Ace of Spades with Momento Mori active, and fires at a blazing 240rpm. I want revolvers to be better to justify using them more. Recently a good justification is because the new Lightfall mods don't drop Special Ammo as consistently as the previous season You either have a ton of it everywhere or not a single one for a large portion of missions.
@Anon E. Mus I second hard light/borealis/dead messenger for the same reason. However with the removal of match game I'm hoping this will be much better when I finally start messing with legendary lost sectors.
While I definitely main Whitherhoard whenever the seasonal artifact permits, I have the most fun running Fighting Lion alongside Ignition Code and Typhon. That's right; I am a true believer in the TRIPLE GL META.
I join you with this true meta that few others embrace.
Fighting Lion is good if you know what mods to apply in your build.
I personally use Verglas Curve, because it's stasis, plus sometimes it shoots stasis powers, so it's really helpful in groups of enemies
Mine went straight to my vault because I kept getting too annoyed at walling myself off with a bunch of ice pillars
I love the huckleberry, I got it yesterday. And I totally agree with your opinion/joke. Like it is brutal in PVE. Never played it on nightfall difficulty though so I cannot say how it fares there but with the catalyst the enemy dropout like flies faster than Cabal's drop pod
The Huckleberry is like my middle child. I know it's there, and I love it, but when it comes time to go-a-raidin-and-guardianing it's older sibling is just much more interesting (It's older sibling being a list of exotics- currently Vexcalibur)
I've been running Riskrunner alongside a shotgun and rocket launcher/caster sword since before Shadowkeep, with Chaos Reach as my super to compliment it all. I still use this loadout frequently to this day, and it rarely proves insufficient for my usually-solo gameplay. What does that say about me?
I use deadman and outbreak in pvp and they both seem to suit me well, I also run trust in pvp with them 🙃
Outbreak, Nagi and Whisper in that order are my most used, the one about Izanagi felt a little too personal, and I feel called out
My favorites are Trinity Ghoul and No Time to Explain. I actually did play the entirety of D1 lmao. Also lightning rod is crazy in general, but especially if you mostly play solo
I used to main Last Word
I just like the lore behind it.
...it also had a very enjoyable final mission to get it.
The Sarus Regime has a special place in my heart as it was my first legendary and I got it when it was Meta in D1, but lord I’m not touching that gun again nowadays. 😂
Just started destiny today as an arc titan, and I am loving it. I also love the sword I got, and Swords will forever be my heavy weapon slot, meta be damned. I also seem to have a preference for side arms, hand cannons, shotguns, And risk runner.
Let me tell you, my favorites are Dead Messenger and Tarrabah, and you got it 101% correct
fighting lion is good for popping shields and clearing adds
Ok but seriously, I genuinely love the Cerberus+1 XD
I didn't even know it (at the time) was the least used exotic weapon lol, I just checked via DestinyTracker and it is apparently the 58/100 most used weapon XD
Yep. Perfectly described me with Lament. I want swords back in the meta
My most used exotic is in between sunshot and ace of spade. The sunshot one discerned me pretty well though
I'm a cold heart main and I love that it's arc.
I use the hunter "punch the shit out of everything" build and I use the cold-heart as my primary because of how much ammo you get with mods.
I haven't touched Crimson since that one Gambit season in the Year Forsaken released and It still remains as my most used exotic, even with 1000+ more hours played since then
Malfeasance was spot on
I can't stop laughing at Sleeper Simulant because it used to be true about me up until the end of Season of the Seraph, now I've made my Titan into a walking warsat and Sleeper fits the design
Eriana’s vow: I use it cuz it’s a handcannon that feels more powerful
Well now i can justify my use of the two tailed, its one of the best exotic rocket launcher dps right now thanks to the catalyst.
Hard light - yeah, that's a good half the reason. Was useful dealing with match game. But I love the wall bounce and really miss when it had no damage falloff :( (by lore it shouldn't have any)
I got Witherhoard day 3 of og Destiny 2 and I’ve loved it ever since. I primarily play solo and that gun has clutched some hard encounters
Last word is also often used by PVP console users as it has the most bullet magnatism in the game
Well, most bullet magnetism for a hand cannon
I can confirm it.
-new last word main
@gearfox7 Yeehaw!
- old last word main (just broke past 10k crucible kills!)
As an Huckleberry enjoyer since I first got it, it was always my main weapon no matter what dungeon or raid I went to, even PVP.
Though, sometimes when I get really lazy at aiming on enemies, I would just switch to Osteo Striga.
(also, I just came back to D2 since last week, I stopped around Jan 2020)
Love that you call Leviathan's Breath a "Gun"
Ok first, yes it is one of the first exotics but risk runner is actually nuts the second arc overload procs it just demolishes mostly everything around it, second I didn’t have a gun pointed to my head I actually quite like sky burners because it’s basically a Mini Infinite Sniper and it’s also really helpful against cabal phalanx because it ignores their defense
Trinity ghoul is my go-to ad clearing and dps weapon. Such a fun and satisfying weapon.
Telesto will always be my fav for Nezracs + devour build, its just too good
I use Last Wish because of its three hits of damage per arrow, since I also keep Deafening Whisper for my energy and eager edge for power.
...wow that Sunshot one is hella accurate to me x'D
Same to me but instead I use an arc hunter
@iLIKESNIPERS47 I like explosions c:
@Blazingfury715 same
I use Sweet Business almost exclusively, completed the Recluse pinnacle weapon quest with it too. First exotic I got on Day 1 of D2, never left my side afterwards. As of getting the catalyst in the warmind DLC on Mars, I've got 30k+ kills on it. It's at least that much before I got the catalyst so probably 60k+ kills with it. No other weapon even comes close to its kill count in my possession lol. I in fact am a Titan Sunbreaker with Actium War Rig, reloading is overrated lol
I'm not going to lie... Your assessment of Skyburner's Oath was right on. Lightfall campaign has Cabal as the new protagonists. I screamed to the heavens "My time has come!" 😂😂😂
Antagonists sweetie :)
Ever sense they fixed the explosion and gave it more rounds and archers tempo in the caty.....Levi has been soo good, add on the fact it staggers even BOSSES and it's just soo good. now, add on volentile and *cheft's kiss*
On the topic of calculating your Dewthbringer shots, if you can, shoot then at a wall above the enemy, it'll go out in more of a cone shape instead of a circle.
I'm sure no one asked but I wanted to justify my using it for so long.
Damn, as a new player in Lightfall, my most used exotic is probably Two-Tail. I was disappointed you didn't have anything to say :(
My favorite part is the fox in the sight who gets the angry eyes when you're locked on a target. Gives me a chuckle.
Outbreak perfected
My absolute fav has always been the bad juju and I really enjoy the designs of it tbh
Since two-tailed was buffed a little bit ago, what are your thoughts on it now?
I feel like queenbreaker would be better in the energy slot like in d1 not the heavy slot
Witherhoard wishender and ace of spades interchangeably. Those three cover my exotic needs fairly well.
Cerberus+1 will always have a spot in my heart for getting me through the breakneck grind also still sad that my favorite weapon has been forever sunset
Funny thing is I actually unironically use Polaris on a regular basis for crucible and it has never done me wrong.
The vex mythoclast really killed me lmao. I spent almost 3 months for that gun
I LOVE Black Talon, its 2 range shots are GREAT boss dmg
Gravitation Lance is actually really good if you have the right void build
As a Sweet Business user, I can confirm that I'm a Titan main and with Actium War Rig this has become my favorite weapon ever.
