Alex and Cole are literally the definition of "Either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become a villain"
Mostly Alex.
Honestly if Cole were a comic book hero Alex would probably be one of his best villains. They thematically similar they both have potential ways to win a fight against one another and if we use good cole we have get an interesting philosophic contrast as well. Plus Alex’s powers give him a good excuse to come back repeatedly which is great for mainstay villain
@Robrockstar96I'd read that.
Anti-Hero vs Anti-Villain
There’s always something satisfying to me about a true good guy managing to overpower a normally unstoppable villain.
There always would be someone more powerful or more versatile.
@DoubleJ-jt1ty He is by the second game.
@DoubleJ-jt1ty Whether or not it's relateable doesn't change if its evil or not. Attempting a genocide can't ever really be considered much else than evil.
@DoubleJ-jt1tySo you're a misanthrope?
I love the death battles that are simply Hero vs Villain. Especially when the hero comes out on top
I WAS CONVINCED AFTER STATS THAT COLE WAS GONNA LOSE. This is a goated death battle and early 2000s kid’s dream battle.
Same bro I was rooting for Cole saw Alex’s stats and was like no way Cole can win. Let’s go!
Longtime Infamous fangirl personally and even I was thinking the same
Thought Alex's healing and arena control were gonna get him the win but I had never been so happy to have been wrong in a while with this show ♡
I thought these games were more of something 90s babies played but good to know the later generation was able to appreciate it.
@lordmonarch2995 well they weren't even games in the 90s. More like what Teens played in '09
@Tony CommissoI was rooting for Cole until I seen it was the good version
This is a pretty sick battle honestly, it felt like a classic superhero movie battle
It is it’s basically Electro against Carnage if their on steroids
That’s a perfect way of phrasing it.
Ok ngl it took me 2 rewatches to appreciate the “script-wrote-in-2013” joke, all the outdated videogame references, Boomstick ex-wife jokes and hearing Wiz say “Lets end this debate once and for all” brought back so many memories 😭🥺
I love Death Battle
Wiz also brought back the “That’s right boomstick” line
OMG I just noticed the "Lets wnd this debate". I wonder why they didn't do this battle back then.
@Misteraskman I guess Technology wasn’t there to re-create it the way they did in this animation.
Alex: "You can't beat me, Cole. I am a god!"
Cole: "You're not a god, you're a parasite!"
Is that a Dr who reference?
@Peterstoric Is it? I don't think so.
@WisdomCube3.0 it’s a hell of a coincidence then. The line, “You’re not a god, your just a parasite” is right out of an episode of Dr who
Is it a Venom reference?
@Sean it's a Doctor Who reference.
It's a freaking crime that both of these franchises aren't supported anymore. They are some of the most fun and unique sandbox games ever and they were just left to die for no reason
I mean what could they have with Second Son??
I agree though, Prototype was a cool series and I enjoyed playing it through somewhat,
At the very least - Use the idea behind Prototype to make a Venom game.
@NARUTO 2.0I did like second son so I would like a sequel to it lol
@Shadowgear Same here.
"No, see powers don't kill people. Oh no, its the person behind the powers that kills people."
- Cole MacGrath
I just beat infamous 2 again recently with the evil ending, plus having the reaper skin on Cole, it made that line hit with a much darker meaning
@Logan Shawleyhow do you change skins on infamous 2, I remember it as a kid but I totally forgot how to do it
As a Prototype fan. I accept the defeat. I was in intense who will win. I love cole too but love alex more than him but yet this defeat was honourable. Fights between 2 legendaries was magnificent. I hope and wish prototype and infamous revive again in future ❤
Same. 👌
Alex should’ve won. They BS logiced their way into Cole winning.
@French Fried Bagel Kinda true. The way possibilities Alex have , Cole dont have that much. Alex could gain new stuff from infamous world street enemies after consuming 💪. Alex is an evolve type the more unique species and entities he consume the more he will gain new powers , abilities, skills and mind .
@Sao TheAXU literally the second Alex stabbed Cole it should’ve been over.
I was expecting that final shot to be Cole collapsing in pain as the Blacklighr virus overtook him and transformed him into Alex.
Because Alex literally only needs to infect 1 of Coles cells in order to win.
@French Fried Bagel Indeed and they didn't let Alex use his full potential. Like where is the minions. Also some abilities he didn't used.
Cole is such a chad he had to save humanity from a plague a second time.
Imagine waking up from the dead just to be faced with the plague in human form
Jesus will do that he’s done it already and will again eventually
@A guy No superstition please.
@Scorpion Firesome this real life my boi
@aguy9430 This is a comment on a video about video game characters fighting.
Please share your beliefs somewhere else thanks😊
Now what we need is a co-op game where one player is Alex and the other is Cole, and they team up against some truly horrid threat.
Nah, better the guy from Prototype 2. Better and nicer Protagonist and same powers.
That's a pretty good idea.
@Mordi ́s Gaming Gedöns You're the first person I've ever seen give preference to Heller over Mercer.
@David Johnson probably because the first Prototype is banned here in Germany because of dumb reasons and the second was not, but only heavily censored (and so poorly, that the first Loading screen became infinite, so you had to get an Uncensored patch).
Means, I knew heller before Mercer(as the "good" guy) and maybe thats why I like him more.
@Mordi ́s Gaming GedönsEven in the first game, Mercer is an antihero at best. He's not meant to be a likeable guy, which slides into him being a villain in Prototype 2.
Some of the lore being locked behind comics definitely blows though.
Another advantage that Cole has Over Alex: Alex’s healing factor needs fuel too, he has to absorb biomass to reconstitute himself. Since death battle is 1-on-1 fights, this means that for Alex to properly heal himself when his biomass reserves got low, he would only be able to try and absorb cole, which is not a good idea since it requires him to touch the dude who’s a walking taser. By contrast cole just needs to absorb electricity to heal, something that can be found in abundance in a modern city even with death battle’s 1-on-1 rule.
To be fair, they let Raiden eat cyborg cores to heal when he fought Wolverine. But in the situation given, where the two are mostly throwing each other over and through buildings without spending much time in any given place, it doesn't matter how many people are down in the streets
Not true, one of the upgrades in P2 allows Heller to regen his health up to 100% without need to consume, and I'm pretty sure the health regen upgrades in P1 allow Mercer to do the same, or at least, are supposed to but are improperly coded.
A bird lets him survive a nuke.
Enough ants or cockroaches could bring him back.
@Tzer and a bit of an electric charge lets cole heal from the beast, basically armageddon on legs that destroyed an entire city in an explosion far larger.
@364dragonrider infinite fight. Unless long game in which caser mercer has advantage due to him potentially being able to absorb conduits. And know how their powers work straight away due to memory absorbption.
Alex: Fought an opponent with similar abilities and lost
Cole: Fought the superior version of himself and won
Well, neither characters really have a continuation to their stories, but there IS reason to believe Alex let himself be consumed.
This is cap it is common knowledge that prototype writers for the second game drop the ball on Alex Murphy's character just to get a cash grab for a black guy as the main character they bitched Alex out in this match Alex can summon hordes of zombie infected giant kiju why he chose not to me even though he chose to use them on James Heller is ridiculous cuz if they were in a death battle I would use the last fight with James where Alex Mercer through everything I was the super intelligent virus and had already absorbed countless other intelligent people I would have worn down this individual with the growing army of my infected avenue and then when his defenses were at his lowest send one or two of my evolve generals to try and absorbed him then if that successful worked absorbed his power from them or if that failed keep sending down zombie and then go in my self 😭 it's like you writers don't know how to consciously use this character powers if you were to say that col could absorb bio electric energy from his hords of zombie I would go to say when u killed any character in game you could not absorb them but when there alive or on the verge of death hoe about in stead of picking a script out the trash we scale these characters right 👍👍👍😅
@reject family productionsyou lost me at "cash grab for a black guy" it is NOT that deep 💀
@Masqueradeyeah same
@Masquerade cry about it.
"If you won't give me your power, then I'll just take it."
"Good idea."
*It was at this moment that Alex released... he fucked up*
God it felt so good to see my main man Cole back in spotlight 🎉
I WAS LITERALLY SCREAMING ROOTING FOR COLE. YOU DONT KNOW HOW LONG IVE WANTED A DEATH BATTLE WITH COLE IN IT
For real man!
Yep same here!
Gonna be honest this feels like one big boss battle for both characters in some kind of crossover dlc for infamous and I love it
InFamous and Prototype are now truly unforgettable
Infamous was my favorite game throughout my childhood.
Prototype was/is a top tier stress release game.
Was expecting Alex to win but im happy Cole did.
I hope they make something after infamous second son, we really need more on the infamous universe.
It would also be cool if Delsin was featured on Death Battle. Question is, who should he fight?
@Derek Quigley Probably Heller, Prototype 2 protag
Especially with Ghost of Tsushima bringing SuckerPunch back to its former glory. I would kill for another entry or heck, I’d be happy with just a remaster of the first game
Delsin would definitely piss Heller off
Lets do delsin versus heller now, blacklight virus boys down 1 but not out
I really miss this era of gaming. The era of full, complete, badass and fun games with no microtransactions 😢
So do I!
When gamers werent satisfied with just waiting for the update 🙄
Well, unfortunately, consumers need to learn to stop shoveling money into it. Otherwise, companies like EA will keep on doing it.
They are literally getting rewarded for doing something that we hate.
I’m confused by your comment? These are both single player games, do of course they have no micro transactions. There is still single player games like that today such as god of war or Spider-Man you can play start to finish no micro transactions needed. I think you’ve just been playing the wrong games bruh
@BombCastor Playsit's just another generic "good ol day" comment
This is legit one of the best death battles I've personally ever seen!
Hopefully if this DB is super successful we'll get a Delsin Rowe vs James Heller. That'd be fun to see
Think Cole deals with villains with more varied powers while Alex really only dealt with people with similar powers to himself so Cole has more Improv skills. Also would assume the Ice powers would slow down Alex's regen powers since he'd be suffering from a bit of Frostbite on top of the electrical burns. Played both franchises and definitely think Cole takes the win.
I wont lie the presentation of this deathbattle definitely paints Cole as a Hero, and thus protagonist energy. Its no wonder he won while it also feels... correct.
Ive never played either game series but this sort of thing did keep me engaged. Especially at the end where it seemed like Cole was going to get absorbed, only for his own power to surge and just defy the darkness.
15:54 *(YYYEEEAAAHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)*
Technically it's the official story. They made a part 3 that confirms that's the path he took.
It's not correct though, DB got so many details wrong and even gave him evil abilities such as arc lightning when they said they were only using good Cole.
Don't believe them for even a second
@Xx prototype xX Lol just say you’re coping hard 😂
@Skeety yeah, cuz I'm coping over a fake video created by incompetent people proven to be wrong over and over right?
Your talking like a child. Treating conversations like they are competitions.
I love how the violins joined at 15:21 just like the InFamous themes
Same
No matter who wins, I think we can all agree that Alex Mercer got that drip
Yeah, i honestly want that jacket he wears in real life
@DuffyDevilSaaaame
Facts
Emo vs Grunge be like
There are some TRULY sick cosplays of Mercer and Heller out there. As in, at a convention they would get high-fives and picture requests, outside they would get screams and police called.
I love Cole MacGrath. Definitely my favorite character of all time.
Even if we assume that Cole’s force field doesn’t literally convert matter into energy, since that has never been proven to actually be possible, at the very least it can be reasonably assumed that it disassembles matter to the atomic level since the Ray Field and the Beast can do the same thing. This would involve breaking both intermolecular and intramolecular chemical bonds, allowing Cole to absorb the chemical energy released as a result of the bond breakage and become even stronger. Meanwhile, since Alex can only regenerate from molecular DNA, he would be completely unable to regenerate from the disassembled atoms. I find it funny that one of Cole’s defensive abilities alone could instantly nullify Alex’s healing factor and kill him.
Expect it couldn't, since he no longer has that ability, needing to replace it with an ice version that doesn't convert anything into energy at all.
@Xx prototype xX Which doesn’t matter because he’s still powerful enough to do it and nothing suggests he doesn’t know how to do it as he literally relearned his powers and more.
@skeety7883 no he isn't, if he was then he wouldn't have had to replace it with an ice version to begin with.
He lost many of his powers after the first fight with the beast, powers such as karmic overload, grind drain and gigawatt blades never came back.
@Xx prototype xX 🤦♂️ He literally relearned all of his powers, it’s not that hard to understand.
I guess Alex just doesn’t get a vast majority of his abilities then since he never uses them in the second game and Heller never gets any of them after absorbing Alex 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️.
@Skeety Cole did not relearn all of his powers, he permanently lost grind draining, gigawatt blades and karmic overload. And had to replace some with ice variants to get it back. Your being disingenuous.
Cole’s victory is all the more satisfying seeing how he literally saved humanity from a total parasite…
I wonder what the movie that cole had after he defeated alex was like:
Probably something like:
"I don't know what i expected, this "mercer" guy wasn't like any conduit i've ever faced before. The guy was nuts.
But the thing about any of these crazed bastards is this: I will always do what it takes to protect my loved ones."
Or to imagine the evil Cole version:
"Thought after the First Sons, after Bertrand, after the Beast, that I'd seen the worst Conduits this world had to offer. But this Mercer guy was on a whole other level. How many freaks as powerful as him are still kicking around?
Doesn't matter. Whatever hole they're spawning from, I'll teach them to stay there. This world is mine."
I love your version alot my guy@kawadec
I thought this would end differently, but I loved it none-the-less. Alex has more immediately lethal attacks, like blades and such, so I was curious to see how Cole would get over his regeneration and lethality.
He shouldn't have, the results here are wrong.
@Xx prototype xX Having played both, you're wrong. Though DB DID get a few things wrong, ultimately Cole is more versatile, faster, and stronger. And unlike Mercer, Cole DOES have an instant kill on contact through just absorbing all the electricity in his body. He doesn't have to use it on humans either, so Mercer's potentially nonhuman biomass doesn't change anything. Note that Mercer uses his own biomass to attack people. So he CONSTANTLY touches people when he attacks them. Mercer could stab Cole and Cole could just instakill him through the blade.
Cole is also literally a living taser. He can't use guns or ride in cars because the electricity that constantly courses through his body makes them explode just from being in contact with him. Even without instakilling Mercer, Mercer would get severe electrical burns whenever he touches Cole.
It's also notable that Cole can redirect electricity that isn't part of his body or in contact with him, like when he drained a storm in Infamous 2.
Electromagnetism Manipulation is just crazy OP. EM is 1 of 4 fundamental forces of the universe, and 2 of those forces are explicitly atomic level and the other is Gravity. Being able to control it is a huge deal.
This fight feels like an edgy 2000s superhero flick complete with the villain goading the hero to join them.
I think that's the idea.
And it's all the better for it!
Is 2009 close enough?
Though development for both games probably started around 2005
@Toob_NoobWell, 2009 is still the 2000s
@Sharavy sorry thought you said early 2000's. It says edgy. My bad
It's kind of funny that absorbing a single helicopter bullet makes Cole magnitudes stronger than Alex.
If they had a TV show, Alex would be a perfect main villain for Cole. He comes off crazy overpowered and evil, but he can die repeatedly and come back for another episode whenever Cole beats him. All the while, he's trying to get Cole to join the evil side, which is actually possible considering Evil Cole is a potential future
Completing the absurd arc for regaining your powers in Prototype 1 was hands down one of the most satisfying experiences in all of gaming.
You never regained your powers
@Bomdasd umm, yes he did, lol
@Xx prototype xX no he didn’t if you mean at the beginning that was in the future and then they went to to past up till that point
This was probably my personally most wanted Death Battle to happen for almost a decade, and I'm happy it finally became a reality.
I love how Cole's finishing move was one of his simplest, most lethal moves he can have.
A Bioelectric Drain/ Thunder Drop combo.
I honestly thought it was Ionic Drain from (i wanna say) the second game, where its an ultimate, though maybe not since he had ice powers, so he was good karma
@Saragen Ren the power you choose isn't tied to begin good or evil, it helps in those areas, but you can be evil with ice powers and vice versa.
@Trankia12I remember you could only be a certain amount of evil before you cant use ice though. Like max either locks the other route. Because I had an all fire set but when I beat the game it locked me out of fire because I went pure good. And beating either game caps out your karma. Also Nightmare grenade is op.
@Yurei OtakuGhost I think you were playing a different game than me, infamous 1&2 didn't have fire powers.
I don't recall fire powers...but if you beat the game twice (good once, evil once) you will actually unlock the use of all powers. Cole is simply OP.
I feel like Alex Mercer vs Venom would be a great battle
Cool thought, but Alex Mercer vs Carnage is better.
@Qualman701 yes great idea!
15:20 as someone who played infamous as a kid this part is so much hype for me probably my favorite death battle rn
I WAS LITERALLY SCREAMING ROOTING FOR COLE. YOU DONT KNOW HOW LONG IVE WANTED A DEATH BATTLE WITH COLE IN IT
never thought alex would be finished off by a (im assuming) karmic overload 15:58 and a bio-leech/ thunderdrop combo 16:00, was expecting an ionic power to do it but cole did that previously, 14:25 ionic freeze, 15:00 ionic vortex and 15:20 ionic storm
no ionic drain, thats evil cole exclusive ;P
omfg thank you guys so much for making this me and my buddy have been arguing about this since these games came out and I always was of the opinion that Cole would be the one more likely to win. All the years of being called an idiot are finally behind me 😂
"The world isn't perfect, but it's a lot better without you in it".
God that line is badass
Indeed it was, narratively too!
It suits Cole perfectly tbh. Badass line and superhero.
It genuinely feels like it's something Cole would say, as well. It's very in character.
The proper response to any politician
@Kin my favorite is “the only vermin I see here is you”
Miss you Infamous! I still would pay to see a comeback! Cole had a great story where it even got it's own small comic book!
Glad to see my boy Cole pull through this one. Honestly wasn't sure if he would get absorbed by Mercer.
Evil Cole vs Alex would be a one shot because Evil Cole would literally absorb him as soon as the fight started.
I'm surprised but pleased. Infamous needs to make a comeback
Cole was such an awesome character, back when original games pioneered the way
When Cole said "Get ready to feel my MacGrath!" and Alex replied "Then I won't have any Mercer on you!", I knew this was 'bout to be peak fiction.
good puns
Why hello fellow pun enthusiast 😁
Okay that was actually not too bad
Honestly? Those lines were actually pretty good.
Truly two of the protagonists of all time.
Now I’m imagining an alternate plot line of infamous 2 where instead of the beast tearing through the United States it’s alex Mercer instead
Which could imply James heller failed to stop Alex leading to a black light virus infested apocalyptic earth where Kessler leads a resistance to try and fail to stop Alex leaving Kessler who having no clue as to Alex’s origins resorted to the next best thing and that is using his conduit powers to go back in time and both strengthening his younger self cole and warning him of the beast that would bring the end of world known as alex mercer
This was awesome, would love to see a new Prototype game, a new Infamous with Cole would be great too. Video games are boring nowadays, these games had me hooked back then.
Indeed, and since Infamous had a whole plotpoint with time travel, Cole getting brought back is actually quite feasible. Heck, even just plain resurrected. With the sheer variety of powers, anything is possible... just like in comic books.
@Volmaaral Dovahkiin At the end of the good ending of Infamous 2, cole's body is being hauled off at sea when it's struck by a single lightning bolt from the sky. Maybe it brought him back?
There’s not many heroes/villains in any universe I wouldn’t put a fully charged Cole against. He’s the best original video game character of all time.
Wow this battle got me, i never imagined a battle between them, but the idea is very good. One of the best Death Battles.
A battle with Delsin would be cool too.
Sadly, his best opponent was wasted on Storm two seasons ago. Granted, combatants have returned before with only three seasons between appearances, so it may still happen next year or after.
we need more Infamous great games alot of fun Cole was a great character glad to see Cole won this
I waited 9 years for this Death Battle. Totally worth it.
Same
I'm glad you think so.
WE waited 9 years for this Deathbattle
Wake me up when they do Warhammer 40k one day :P
Me too
This episode took 10 years to make. But it was all worth it.
💀 really
I miss this aspect of Death Battle, this was truly one their best battles yet. Not only are they both from great franchises, but this battle felt like an official battle between the two. With Cole being the hero and Alex the villian. We need more Death Battles like these. The 3D battles need to make more appearances
They do 5 or 6 a season what.
I remember commenting for this exact video way back when, and now we finally got it. Thank you Death Battle for brining me back to my childhood and letting me live it out. You guys are awesome and this video was awesome.
I am VERY happy for Cole getting the win.
I just want to say thank you death battle. This was an episode for ps3 fans. I definitely appreciate this episode.
Cole can also recharge directly from a thunder storm. He’s done it before in the mission “The Storm” where he was literally calling down lightning from the sky to recharge himself.
God that mission was so sick. Hearing that one iceman calling out “he’s drawing energy from the storm!” and then them bringing everything they have in to desperately stop you was so cool. It really felt like you were top dog among the conduits bringing down a reckoning. Damn I miss Cole : (
@Jonathan Joestar with Pluck Yes!! That’s was one of the best parts of it. Out of all 3 games that one mission is my favorite of all time. Same here man. I liked Cole a bit more than Delsin. It would be nice if we got another game featuring Cole but we can only hope.
@jayb234
Yeah but sadly they followed the player's first choices for making sequels and people chose Hero rather than Infamous
I always did both the hero and infamous playthroughs in infamous
@Andrew Ridings same here. I always played good first and then wreaked havoc after on another save.
Cole winning makes a lot of sense. Most of Alex's piwer as seen in the game is his ability to control other monsters with his powers, not his ability to use the powers themselves. Especially since he eventually dies to a man with a much smaller, weaker arsenal of the same power.
fytb cuh
More likely that mercer let heller absorb him for law of survival
Yea it seem Mercer was teaching heller more than kill him, when you attack Mercer with the same weapon he’ll spout out dialogue such as “change it up for god sake” or “I’m using that ”
Ok,
1. Heller had superior power, mercer merely held back.
2. It don't make sense why Cole won, they got so many facts wrong such as putting Cole's electric shield on par with a nuclear reactor when the shield they were talking about was ice based.
They're incompetent, you shouldn't believe them.
Finally! I've been wanting this death battle between alex and cole for a long time. Thanks so much screw attack.
Always nice to see other people remember Cole
Honestly surprised this one finally happened after a decade
I love how the first PROTOTYPE game set itself up to be able to walk back Alex being evil (and dead) from PROTOTYPE 2. At the end of the first game Alex was blown to pieces. They could totally due a story line about a different piece that survived the explosion and didn't go through the stuff that made the Alex from game 2 evil.
I had a buddy who had something of a theory (or maybe it was really more like cope cuz he hated Heller and liked Mercer a helluva lot more) for Protoype 2's and the comic's Alex, it was something to the effect of Mercer having too much biomass after cleaning up the remnants of the infection and Blackwatch so he split himself up into eight different Alex Mercers and set them to wander the world and the one who set the virus loose again was just one of those bodies gone rogue. I liked the idea cuz I too preferred Alex over James and didn't much care for P2's story or gameplay and it made a bit of sense, eventually he'd run out of room to store all the excess, so what better way than to divide like a cell.
@David Johnson Interesting premise, though it does raise the question as to why none of the other Mercers intervened when P2-Mercer went rouge. I don't particularly like the explanation being that P2-Mercer just ate them off screen.
To expand on my idea a bit more, my idea for a PROTOTYPE 3 was Blackwatch recovered pieces of Mercer they found after PROTOTYPE 1's ending and kept them in suspended animation for study. James and Dana (Alex's sister), after finding out Mercer was still out there, went on a mission to destroy them. The operation goes wrong as Dana is trying to destroy a Mercer piece while James deals with the enemies outside. Mercer breaks out and eats everyone, including almost Dana, but stops when he recognizes her DNA as his beloved sister, Mercer's memories only going up to the events of the end of PROTOTYPE 1. To save her life after nearly eating her Mercer infects her with the virus and makes her into the 3rd playable character for PROTOTYPE 3.
And with that you have a game that has the best of all worlds, Alex Mercer as a returning playable character from before he was villainized in game 2, James Heller as a returning playable character bringing his unique game play quirks and story dynamic of working with an Alex before their fall while still having ALL THE MEMORIES of all the evils P2-Mercer did, and Dana Mercer as a new playable character for new game play quirks to be tried out on for the 3rd game along with being the plot glue that holds the characters together by wanting to believe in the good of her "brother" that sacrificed himself to protect others from the bomb.
This would have been a crazy death battle 10 years ago
It's a crazy one now too though!
Tbh kinda glad it didnt come out back then, because the fight wouldn’t have been as beautiful
@IBK Akindele True It would have been all 2d sprite animation, not against it of course, but a full 3d with debries and destruction? yes please!
@Juan Maidanatheir sprite fights have definitely improved however, just look at Rogue vs Wonder Woman compared to Goku Black vs Reverse Flash (my personal favorite DB)
microsoft just got activision, so people are talking about prototype again.
inFAMOUS was and still is my fave game of all time. Granted so know it’s not what most would consider the most polished or most graphically advanced. But Sucker Punch really made something super special to me ❤️
I love Alex Mercer but I sure understand the outcome great job guys I loved the animation it rocked 😎
The second I saw Cole grind down Alex's tentacle then hit him with that blast I knew this battle was going to be legendary
you saw Cole do WHAT
Surprising. I remember playing both and this was a conversation point for a while. Alex throwing tanks around like toys made me think he could just rip apart Cole. The Beast thing does put a little power curve on that idea.
They should make a show for each of these games and have a crossover season that leads up to this fight . The fight scene was hard btw 🔥👌🏽
As a great man once said, "Shut up and take my money "!
I have actually wondered in the past who would be stronger. I was surprised actually by the ending. Thank you Death Battle
Now I’m hoping Infamous and Prototype get remakes someday.
now that wold be a real winner. Prototype with AAA graphics and smoother gameplay would be insane. Especially in this age of oversaturated goodguy superhero games
Infamous and Prototype remakes, released as a bundle, with a team-up sequel.
been hoping since the ps4
Throw the darkness onto that pile another gem from that era that deserves another game
I still want a legitimate inFamous 3. Second son was a letdown
AMAZING. This is EXACTLY what I wished for from a fight between Cole and Alex. Thanks DB!
FUN FACT: in infamous 1 and 2, the game follows real world energy conversion laws. For instance if you own the game try this; when your energy storage is almost out, fire your main bolt at a metal object about 10-20 times electrifying it. Then if you hold down L2 next to the object you'll drain the electricity back from the object but get 10 fold of what you shot out back. You can turn two dots of energy into a full bar without actually draining something that already contains electricity originally.
It's great I just wish you guys did this back when Monty was still alive the animation would have been lit
Imagine there was a fight between Lucy vs magneto. Now that would be epic.
what I loved about this fight is it wasn't obvious (at least to me) who was gonna win, it was a close match up.
Not going to lie, but Cole shutting down Alex's speech of a 'better world' bull crap is oddly satisfying.
Goes to show how well written the character arc is for Cole, while Alex still stuck in the same place he always did because he let the choices of the few taint his world view on humanity.
While Cole is always changing, Alex never seems to change. Ironic knowing Alex has power over evolution.
True
This comment needs to be higher up
The hero we didn't deserve but the one we needed
I have held the position that Cole would beat Mercer since I was 14. I am now 25.
God this is catharsis
I like this battle. I also like how united the community is on this one.
Initially, I thought that Alex would win, simply because he is a literal nightmare of a bioweapon that had to be killed by a better version of the virus than himself to be taken out in the end. But in the end, seeing just how many powers Cole actually had, and exactly what he could do with them.... yeah, i can see why the battle concluded like this. I don't think I mind this ending.
thank you for finally making it.
Damn, now i want an Infamous remake.
Bluepoint games, lets go!
I'm glad they took as long as they did. The animation came out amazing!
when cole said "i may be infamous but you are just a prototype compared to me" 🔥🔥🔥
Peak fiction
✍️ 🔥 🔥 🔥
Then he said "It's Coleing time" and that was just so hype
Ok I just watched it twice and I didn't hear anything resembling that

People sure find genius ways to deal with things other people think are cheat powers (Like Alex's regeneration vs Cole's bio-energy absorption). A couple months ago there was a wasp and I sprayed it with a can of hairspray... it was at that moment I found out that creating a "sticky mist" can counter all those "swarm" baddies you see in video games and movies
Who remembers the friendly art competition between both game companies in 2009? I feel like they would've loved this video 😂
Literally two of my favorite game duology when I was younger. I remember always playing evil first. Cole gets red and black lightning in the end of the first one if you go full evil and I thought it was so cool
growing up, the original infamous was the first game which made me wanna buy a ps3. seeing it given such love after all these years makes the kid in me happy. great video
Two awesome but forgotten characters going back to life. G-old! Thank you very much!
In retrospect, maybe it’s not so bad it took them this long to make this episode, they had the time to develop and improve animations a ton.
Better late than never.
Also back in 2013, they weren't all that great at researching like they are now. Some people would disagree that they are good now, but they do actual math while in the past they just went "eh, they could probably do this and win" most of the time.
And yet they still didn't bother using the Sonic booms, or when Alex Mercer does his speed that exceeds the tank rounds, which are projectiles moving at supersonic speeds, and death battle gave no Feats whatsoever to Cole in terms of speed. And they didn't bother making a tornado, as Alex Mercer runs circles around his opponent who is unable to perceive him. But that just takes all the fun out of the battle doesn't it
Eddit: Cole didn't get a Speed-Feat, but that was for routing electricity hisun and routing electricity is not the same as moving from point A to point B in reaction to a weapon firing at you.
@kjf 365 Nowadays, the question fans ask isn't "Should this character have won?" and more "How faithfully would they portray the characters?"
Excellent graphics and soundtrack. You continue to impress.
I love Alex Mercer, this game gave me my childhood, unfortunately I’m not familiar with the Infamous series, but I think the battle was good, and I’m very glad that they showed Mercer’s armor, it was one of the coolest and most impressive things in the game
This battle so f****** cool. It made my 11 year old self actually cry at how beautiful this was
Weird result considering back then both fanbases agreed that Alex would beat Cole pretty solidly since the general consensus was that Alex could take and dish damage while Cole could dish a bit more damage than Mercer but couldn't take even remotely close to the damage that Alex could take and do, so it was a matter of how long would it take for Mercer to land a fatal blow like at 15:51, but then again this was before Prototype 2 ruined Mercer's character.
Still that is some sick fight.
I dont remember anyone from the Infamous fandom agreeing that Alex would win all we agreed to was that it would be an awesome fight
yeah superhero virus what a great plot point 😂.
Activated conduits are immune to diseases, which is why the plaque never affected Cole, so the blacklight virus would most likely have no effect on him.
Also true. This fight was bound to end badly for Mercer
@WeaponXSigma Think it would have been different if we saw mercer abusing his ability consume normal people to regenerate though. That was a really big thing to take into account for the fighting was him eating enemies as the battle went on. If Mercer had kept running off to regenerate and charge by eating humans in the area I think he'd have stood a better chance all things considered. It's hard to think about who would win in this fight since it would come down to who ran out of energy sources first.
Mercer is no fool either. If he saw cole charging off the power grid he'd pull back and just start breaking the grid left, right, and center. TL:DR I feel like due to the intelligence of both sides and their separate regeneration capabilities a change in arena and resources would greatly shift how this fight would go. This type of fight would potentially go on for WEEKS if not months.
It doesn't need to in order to absorb him.
Alex's virus is like trying to infect a fire to become poisonous. As long as Cole's abilities were still active, it'll burn off anything Mercer threw at him.
man this death battle brought me back, even tho i wasnt there when infamous released, i played the living hell out of it, and still do on occasions today, i hope they bring back these two kickass games again!
Honestly, as long as Cole had electricity, he could just shock Alex off of him, if Alex tried to consume him. And if he did run out, just consuming Alex’s bio-electricity would just make Alex a battery for Cole to continue shocking Alex.
Though before I watched the fight, I hadn’t considered that maybe the best way to beat Alex, would be to freeze him.
I’m surprised that in Prototype, that Blackwatch didn’t attempt Liquid Nitrogen weapons to stop Alex in his tracks, by flash freezing his biomass.
I was always saying I want to see Mercer appear on Death Battle, so here I am glad to find out incredibly late
It makes sense given the subtypes of games they're from. Prototype has more stealth elements because Alex isnt straight up strong enough to resolve the situation by himself. However, being hunted by Alex would be a fresh new hell, what with him stalking you wearing the face of someone you love. Cole is more powerful, but Alex is more horrifying.
