ENA: Dream BBQ - Official Trailer

Hi everyone!
As many of you may have noticed, we, unfortunately, weren’t able to release Dream BBQ in December 2022 as originally anticipated. This postponement was made due to the extensive amount of art and programming that the team has been undertaking in order to make the game as polished as possible.
Like some of you may have seen through the previews we shared on Patreon last year, this project became more ambitious than it was initially supposed to be. We believe this is for the best and hope to deliver a completely new and exciting ENA experience.
Despite setbacks in our schedule, we have some really exciting and unexpected collaborations on the way. We hope you look forward to this and more upon the game’s release this year.

ena was eerie enough without any real conflict, but it looks like there's gonna be actual bad things happening which is terrifying

I'm always amazed at how many creative character designs the ENA team come up with. A rowboat envelope? A clock camel? Coral glasses? The giant monster with the ribcage/harp thing? The spatula goddess? How the hell do you come up with all of this?

HOW DID WE GO FROM JUST SOME DREAMCORE/WIERDCORE ANIMATION TO ENA HAVING A HOLE IN HER STOMACH CRAWLING FOR HELP😭😭?? BUT STILL PROPS TO THE PEOPLE THAT WORKED ON THIS 👏 (Also 0:47 is terrifying, I Love it

WHAT KIND OF TALENT..

god i love how the music perfectly encapsulates the feeling of the trailer itself. It starts off mysterious and dissonant with what i can only describe as choir vocals (but like an actual choir of god it feels angelic but not with a softness, instead with a beauty underlined in foreboding judgement). When the massive thing in the sky appears a colossal, loud base kicks in reflecting the feeling of seeing something so grand that it is horrifying. The cracking backbeat syncing perfectly with enas cracking face is both satisfying and grotesque. Then with the gameplay footage it takes a 180 into a complete whimsical harmony slowly descending into darker tones. The labyrinth motif kicks in as a callback with those choir vocals making it feel like a home run for the series. then it descends into a cacophony of noise seemingly building to its critical mass and exploding. A masterfully made atmosphere

I hope this will bring the ENA fandom back

I feel like there will be 3 endings: A "good" ending, a "bad" ending, and an "evil/corrupted" ending. Just by how Ena is presented in this trailer, and honestly that would be so dope. If not though I wouldn't mind because this trailer alone is insanely creative and just a glimpse of what the game will be!

Theory for the emotions shown in this video.
Grey ENA: I think this is ENA when she is hungry. Mainly due to the crazed expression and giant hole in her stomach. The cover art for the track in this video, anemoia, shows this form visibly salivating. The another reason I also believe this is by how it was presented.
The only times we see this form is when shes in a dark void of mannequins, and she(maybe)hallucinates the spatula ballerina and begins crawling towards her to ask for help. In the next shot of her, she is now in the spotlight where the ballerina once was, and is seemingly dancing with a mannequin, staring wideeyed at it, as if to take a bite out of it.
Cracked Green ENA: I think this is latent or repressed fear. She is scared deep down, but she tries to remain calm, but is slowly *cracking* and letting her anxiety seep through the surface (like the purple and blue liquid in the next shot of this form) When we see this form again, she is hopping around and moving in circles, and her face is cracked to the point of purple and blue fluid streaming out. This is her full fear face.
Just speculation as of now. Might add more in the future, but for now, that's all I wanted to cover.

I have a feeling that this game will be absolutely unforgettable

I get the feeling this series is truly about desire. People desire bbq, people desire dreams, people desire more than what they have, people desire death, people desire freedom, people turn desperate when their desires aren’t fulfilled. They desire praise and attention. Something makes me just feel this way idk if it makes sense. Oh and abandonment and loss! Big themes of that.

I don't think I've ever gotten this many chills from a trailer. I'm new to the ENA fandom but by god if I don't love it here already, thanks for the amazing world and characters you have created.

I like how this is basically normal Ena's "everything is both total nonsense but you can also easily imagine it making narrative sense for SOMETHING" but cranked up to 11 and also made into like. a GORGEOUS piece of art.

I gotta geek out about the details and theorize a little bit.
0:30 - Maybe in her efforts to gain the spatula poor ENA was injured, looks like a gun shot wound. She also looks the most human here. She could also be starving to death.
0:35 - love the music bringing the effect of the spatula being heaven sent combined with ENA’s surprise reaction
0:38 - The deep, beautiful, booming, ominous music for that holy Grill, giving that dreadful tone and making it seem not only wrathful but like it’s playing the music 😭👏🏽✨
0:47 - So green bbq ENA looks like shes truly deteriorating and breaking down, face cracking and arms missing.
Music and scenery giving [BAD END] end of the world vibes, like she’s running out of time.
But the music detail is beautiful, as she seems to be chewing on her own demise the sound effect syncs perfectly with said chewing at first, also giving a sense of hopelessness with what’s happening around her.
0:53 - ENA trying to communicate to the god/entity that she needs the fork, maybe a trial/test of some sort?
0:56 - ENA’s desperate crawling to the spatula, looking like she’s at the brink of death 🤌🏽✨ ( poor baby )
0:59- I mean that freeze frame right there, gurl fighting for her life, tryna hold on.
0:59 / 1:00 - Grill god is pissed, seemingly trying to knock the unworthy away. Possibly has something to do with the coal storm. Those booming bassy tones ✨👌🏽
1:02 - Coal storm scene, ENA seems to be panicking as her situation is getting noticeably worse.
1:09 - Something goes wrong and ENA apparently didn’t pass the vibe check.
1:11 - The music is AMAZING, also possibly this worlds Moonie.
1:16 - Cute character 🥺, seems like either ENA didn’t interact with them right, didn’t meet a prerequisite to talk to them amicably, or just story related crankiness. They’re also carrying two lil babies~
1:17 - ENA seems to be offering her arm, maybe she took it off, maybe she’s already deteriorating, maybe both? Could possibly have bad end branches leading to the Coal storm scene?
1:20 - Lowkey giving Extinction party vibes, although looks similar to the dream bbq teaser setting.
1:23 - Crazy abstract peril, looks like a flying ship of some sort.
1:10 - 1:28 Music is going CRAZY! The whole song beginning to end is beautiful and absolutely artistry on it’s own but 1:17 - 1:23 is probably one of my favorite parts, I can’t even describe it.
1:35 - This keyboard deep sea is beautiful!!
1:37 - Blue ENA shocked at the spatula just being another target, possibly implying that she may have been hallucinating ( probably due to her serious injury )
1:40 - It looks like it’s raining bullets, I wonder why.
But this scene paired with how it cuts to seemingly okay smiling ENA and the much brighter scene with raining flowers instead at 1:42 makes me think that 1:40 really is a bad end.
1:42 - ENA, happy and ok, seemingly controlling a big ol’ gun ( sounds like fireworks ). Giving good end vibes.
I’m so excited for this game, like this is gonna go down in indie gaming history. Absolute art!

This somehow reminds me of like… war flashbacks, or ptsd of some sorts.
But this is actually really amazing how you made this incredible animation for the trailer for us to see, and from the help of Oliver Buckland for this incredible music! We love what you’re doing, keep up the amazing work, and take as many breaks as you please. As a basic and learning animator myself, I know it’s hard to commit on something so big, something so… powerful! Anyway, thanks again!

i’m genuinely so stoked. joel g makes such awesome stuff, and the ENA series brings me so much comfort. i’m ready for weird stuff, more lore, and incredible animation.

DUDE, The jump in production quality from "experimental indie animation" to "psycadelic anime-inspired first person story game" is BEYOND insane. I cant wait for this to release!

Also, I don't think I'll ever see a trailer of this caliber ever again. This trailer was unique and one-of-a-kind! Dark, weird, surreal, interesting, allegoric and much more!
Also, the game is free according to Joel G himself on his livestream!

Finding out that this was a game and not just an animation was mind blowing! This is going to be freaking AMAZING to experience when it comes out. P.S. The music is entrancing and beautiful
Needless addition to this comment...; Yesterday I randomly clicked on someone's profile and saw that they had a playlist named "ENA" and out of curiosity I clicked on it. I'm very glad that I did lol

Honestly this is far better than 99.99 percent of what all is on Netflix.

I just randomly stumbled upon this trailer with no prior knowledge of ENA and now I can’t wait for this game to come out! This is an amazing trailer, I hope the dev team the best luck with the rest of the project!

Everything is just so abstract and lovingly animated, even more than usual!
I haven’t been this excited for a trailer in a while!

We all gotta appreaciate how Joel G manage to make a world both bizarre and cool the same time.

Weirdly, the thing that stands out most to me is that the posing mannequins have graduated from visual element to full on trope. I really am fixated on them and what they might represent.

Can we just give props to whoever did the music for this though like OH MY GOD THEY DID SUCH A GOOD JOB EVERY SINGLE SOUND AND EVERY SINGLE PART OF THE SONG JUST FITS SO WELL WITH WHAT HAPPENS ON SCREEN LIKE I ABSOLUTELY *LOVE THIS!!!*
This is like the type of thing where you can’t even tell what came first, the music or the video

This looks like genuine high quality surrealist art. I had no idea it was a game until the end. Let me reiterate, this is art.

You know, sometimes The ENA team really does make me wonder what the HECK they were on to make them create this, and it's not because it's bad, it's just because it's VERY, VERY confusing, and looks like an acid trip. But at least it always comes out really good! :)

What do you even call music like this!? Dreamcore? Nightmarebliss? It's a tonal masterpiece. It's absolutely chaotic, madness brought in strange instruments. I need *MORE*.

I ??? Literally have no words. The amount of work the animators, artists, musicians, and programmers put in is INSANE. I got chills watching this

I would watch an entire movie in this style, I don’t need a story. Just beautiful and chaotic random events and characters of a grand scale with more fantastic music.

I don't usually get excited by most media. I think its been since Phantom Dust in 2004 that i actually got excited for a unique piece of interactive media.
This is my most anticipated title of all time.

From my understanding, I'll try to get this all together and show what I think's happening, this feels way too confusing and complicated even though it's a masterpiece! Have some timestamps.
• Televisions, playing a clip of someone in need of help or wishing upon something. 0:13 - 0:30
• Backstabbed after ENA was told a lie that she'd be offered help. She sees something/someone who could possibly save her, but turns her into the geometrical split personality girl. 0:30 - 0:38
• Something odd, going to destroy humanity, but people rise and expect to reach their dreams and be safe. 0:39 - 0:45
• ENA, sees the possible chaos, and breaks down feeling hopeless (which causes her face to crack?) 0:46 - 0:51
• Before she was backstabbed. 0:53 - 0:55
• She crawls closer to what might save her, like I said before. 0:56 - 0:59
• Chaos erupts, ENA is breaking down, panicking. 1:00 - 1:05
• The exact moment she was backstabbed, she gets shot by a lazer which caused the big hole in her body. 1:08 - 1:11
• Gameplay! 1:11 - 1:26
• ENA has to do jobs and wishes and help people, but she only helped one person, therefore only one flower(?) falls. 1:27
• Showcase! 1:29 - 1:37
• People are dying and she's trying to help people, but a lot of people continuously die. 1:37 - 1:41
• The ending! Multiple flowers(?) fall due to how many jobs and how many people she's helped with. 1:41 - End

I have never said this to anyone before, but.....your series and the trailer for the game influenced me a lot. For the first time in my life, I'm painting on canvas and not in my imagination.

I’m a little late, but this looks awesome! For some reason, the intro makes me think of a Studio Ghibli film. But weirder. Also, I like how there’s a little bit of some of the original music at 1:29. It’s a cute little reference.

I love how despite how different everything feels, we've still got the opening notes of Backroom Labyrinth to reassure us that this is still going to be Ena. I can't wait for the final release.

Oh the music. I can't express how perfect it is, especially the strong beats from backroom labirynth paired with the showcase of how ghe game's gonna look????!?!?

This gives me vibes to the Monogatari seasons and the trailers for the seasons/movie. I am hyped!

What makes me shock isn't just the game quality itself, but the fact Ena is actually a human being.
Ena is always like a part of this nonsense world, she's the most nonsense character out of the whole series like this world was made for her
But it turns out she's a goddamn human and wasn't nonsense at all

I love how a Dream BBQ gameplay looks just like a normal ENA episode, you literally cannot tell them apart, the ENA any% speedruns are now reality.

THIS IS SO COOL WHAT! Also I wanted to mention somewhere, in case anyone cares, it looks like the flowers that are falling towards the end are Angels Trumpet, an extremely toxic hallucinogenic plant. I thought that was a really cool detail! Angles trumpet is super deadly and even smelling the flowers can make you dizzy

Thanks, UAclips algorithm, for sending me to this beautiful, trippy, and incredibly fascinating project! The visuals and characters look stunning so far, and the music really makes me feel some kind of way. Definitely going to keep this game on my radar.

0:19 I am going to talk about this guy because i can
Ok so his room is a long corridor full of televisions showing the reactions of Ena's friends of what Ena is about to do and is adorned with shides
Also his theme has a ticking noise like if it was a timer
We dont see his full body but he looks like its made of strings and he is small but he has a fork to make the BBQ that Ena needs so hes *tempting* Ena with the fork. But we see that he has a pyramid with a frog head like our coworkers hoodie and arms
Then Ena uses the power or hability to talk with the Language of the Gods and the TVs turn off and the room get bluer and get some veins effect, Ena comunicates that she wants the Fork but he just keep showing the fork to Ena
At the next scene Ena talks again but the god dont responds so she gets closer to the god and he changes his fork to a gun.
Ok so this guy is similar to Runas
They live on a pyramid,they have a timer and they are gods,also Runas is based on El señor de los Milagros an old but not that old painting and by judging the Inca esthetics of the panels i think on Ena BBQ will tell us about the origin of Ena or at least the past of Ena .
The other 2 guys really dont have nothing interesing but that they are a Spatula and
Grill, Tools to make the Dream BBQ.

I have a feeling we'll meet multiple ENAs in this game, which will definitely be interesting.
Edit: I realized that normally ENA has multiple forms (which I've forgotten), but it's still possible that there could be multiple kinds of ENAs and it would be interesting to see the explanation for this ENAs seperate forms.

I honestly don’t care if the game has been delayed for a bit, this trailer has already proved to me how amazing it’s going to be and how fucking amazing it already is. It seems like one of those things where you can’t just watch someone else go through the game and you have to experience for yourself so you don’t miss anything and you really experience the speciality it has.

THIS MUSIC IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! Those drums and that synth and heavenly voice has me ascending to another plane. Incredible! Not to mention that actual trailer- FCKIN INSANE! I CANNOT wait until this game comes out! Ur mind is amazing and I can feel the passion put into this project! Keep up the great work!

The artstyle reminds me of something studio ghibli would make, or like old style cartoons and stuff. Very cool and I can't stop rewatching it ever since I last found it the other day

There’s so much going on here. It’s an perfect execution of music and animation. The way the music perfectly describes what’s going on in the video and how good it reinforces it’s message. What a beautiful trailer. Great and unique animation, interesting environments, fantastic song.

I can’t wait to play this mostly because it has a lot of interesting surrealism war imagery and a brutal-like nature as well as isolation. I was so happy to see ENA being utilized in a more graphic, sub-type and nature. Plus I just enjoy psychological horror.

Watched this many times, visual and music is top notch!
My theory for this game plot:
ENA was a living human, prob has some multiple personality disorder, died, and got stuck in limbo, had her different selfs spitted when going to this world, hence the huge hole in the normal-looking ENA. The thing in front of ENA in the beginning could be trapping all the subsequence characters that we see in the trailer in those little TVs, and now she's negotiating with it. The blocky arm ENA we all known and love could be the final version of her. BBQ might be a way of saying having a bunch of stuff on 1 grill, mixing and smashing. The game could be about ENA finding all her other part/selfs, either for escaping or moving to the next life, with a twist at the end, like choosing to stay, leading to the ENA series that we've seen.

I just don't have words for how amazing this is. ..

Holy shit, this is genuinely some of the best animation I've seen on UAclips. Leaps above the already spectacular ENA cartoons... Can't wait for this to come out, the team should all feel extremely proud

I just want to say that I feel really cool knowing where those symbols bordering the screen at 0:08 come from thanks to an art history class.

I am highly anticipating this game! I really enjoyed the ENA series when it first started emerging on the internet(as well as the website, with all of its wonderful secrets). ENA is probably my favorite piece of niche(not so much now as it was) entertainment on the internet. Would hyperfixate on again, 12/10.

This is a feast for my gremlin lore maniac mind, I keep finding myself watching this over and over again, it just seems this game'll be packed with some deep lore to uncover on the game's debut!

I really really love the fact that the song in the trailer is called "anemoia." It means "Nostalgia for a time or a place one has never known." I have a grand feeling that this project is going to be absolutely amazing and gorgeous. I can't wait!!!

What gives me the most anticipation is the fact the even Ena shows signs of genuine fear. It's no longer just smiles and distorted laughs. It feels realer than ever, and this new sizzling sight will be the gateway to a whole new world. And I can't wait

ENA itself is it's own aesthetic, almost everything here feels original that it's amazing! It gives off such a vibe that you can't even describe properly, a dream? windows xp? It's honestly amazing and if i'd ever get the money i am definitely buying this game.

This is probably going to sound obvious but i think all the ena's in this video are separate beings. In Temptation Stairway the shepard says "ещё один эна-баламут" which is translated as "another ena-troublemaker" but in more specific terms could also be translated as "another one of those ena-troublemakers". i think Human Ena, Broken Ena, and Unharmed Ena are all separate beings albeit with similar outfits and colors, and are unrelated to the Blue-Yellow Ena we all know and love besides being the same species. Just my two cents for anyone that hasn't caught this yet
