I've read Sybil, and in it Schreiber reports that Mason said "Every feeling in the book is true" - by implication, that suggests there are things in it that aren't.

I do not believe in this disorder and these Drs make something up make it into something it's not just got recognition!! They have the patient and their families believing junk like this!! God gave everyone their own persnality and if you have any extras might want to be prayed for!!

Simply put, in true cases...these are demonic possessions. All of this is given by example in The Holy Bible. This is why we need cleansed by the blood of, Jesus, to begin to rid us of all evil.
Repentance, is the only way, Jesus, can come into our hearts and lives, leading us back into our right minds...separating us from evil and serving evil.
Very serious situation is Salvation. Without it...our eternity will be spent without God, and not With God.
    Very concerned we must be.

If a person is not dangerous to themself and or others, what is not broke you can not fix. Hello, leave well enough alone. If you look at everyone, we all can be diagnosed as having something, but if we don't hurt others, what does it matter then if you are different, as others would put it. Live and let live.

Debbie Nathan is lying. I have the book Sybil right here and I have checked her statements against the book and they differ. Nathan has written a book claiming Wilbur and Mason are lying and faking the MPD but here she is lying too.

Heartbreaking. Shirley Mason suffered terribly. I hope she was not exploited by Dr. Wilbur ....but I just don't know. It was disgraceful for people like Jerry Springer to exploit people who were suffering. They made them out to be circus freaks. Shame on them. And these so-called doctors/therapists hypnotizing people makes me sick. Irresponsible medicine. It is an honor when a person comes to you for help and trusts you with their most intimate thoughts and experiences. They are vulnerable human beings that should be treated with the utmost dignity and care.

Sharry Beaver schizophrenia was termed by a Dr working with DID patients, schizophrenia is not a ‘split personality’,
the name muddled up the misunderstanding of DID, split personalities have always existed, it’s a denial & defence mechanism ie NPD - Sybil is Hollywood it’s a film but it served a clarity.

How many such people have you met? I think psychological disorders become in fashion. Many people seem to say they have something as an excuse to feel special or as an excuse to behave childishly. When you do see cases of people who actually do have the disorders it's very sad and you wonder why anyone would want to pretend to be that to be cool. Like a teen I saw today who was brought into the doc office and was carrying a babydoll and told the doc she was there to have it examined but ofcourse her caregiver was with her and it was really the teen that was there for the office visit.

The leading is so clear. The same kind of problem led us to decades of hysteria over child care child abuse. There is the occasional health care professional that has their own agenda or have been very poorly trained and this is where that an lead. Still today I have people ask me about “repressed memories” - it is almost 100% likely that if you had something happen at age 4-5 years or older you remember it. These few professionals have done such harm. If this exists, it is extremely rare. Note that there are Disassociative disorders that have nothing to do with multiple personality disorders. But we are too good at looking at fax, we like wow theories - like the people that believe that immunizations called autism. Pure BS but that seems to have changed nothing.

I'm not saying that they do but with all of the blunders of the medical industry and the fact that things now get passed without being studied for long enough it seems possible even likely that there could be many more such "blunders" Vioxx was linked to as many as 60k deaths before they pulled it off the market. Then you have all these ads for lawyers on TV because some drug or another turned out to be deadly of cause birth defects.

I suffered from long term abuse and as a result I was a poor student in school because I was always daydreaming and it was difficult for me to focus. I still have problems because when I’m doing something I can completely zone out and not remember things. I know most people can do this but mine really interferes with my life. It’s like driving somewhere, your brain takes you but you don’t know why you ended there with no memory of getting there. No, I do not have Alzheimer’s. I’ve been in therapy for years.

    Mental health is big business.
    Psychiatrists are legal drug 'pushers'.
    Psychotherapists are corrupt and useless.
Scheme after scheme to receive taxpayers money via grants.
And once diagnosed, despite medication, one can quit working + collect benefits.
Now a society of 'pretends to hear voices' is the rage.
The MSD manual is a load of fiction + money infused opinion.

MPD is developed in an individual in order to control them. Those who have done this to them, operate at a distance. & are rarely identified. If they are then it's counted as part of the disorder. The matter is often one of state & is very political. Kennedy was concerned about electronic devices planted in people. But the processes of MPD are far more serious & likely. It also severely interferes with autonomy & human rights. For some reason therapists don't associate the MPD with past abuse. Satanic activity is very real but society has been trained out of a consideration of it it by the use ofrationalism. This leaves the victim horribly trapped.

In the inevitable Victim Olympics that developed around this phenomenon (assumedly promoted more by doctors wanting to sell sensationalized books than by patients needing help for some type of mental disorder), I wonder what the highest number of "personalities" ever claimed was. I tend to think that the "over 300" mentioned in the video is probably not the highest.

She felt sick because of the drugs. Hypnotic drugs leave you very vulnerable to suggestion. There is no such thing as Multiple Personalities. There are dissociative disorders where people lose time. Not the same thing at all.

7:00 300 personalities is not a realistic number. Pretty sure she is borderline or histrionic or a hypochondriac . My mother is a therapist and one her best friends is also a therapist and her therapist friend really does have disassociative identity disorder (or multiple personality disorder) she only has three "personalities" and her personalities keep trying to commit suicide and then the original wakes up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there or the months before. She can't control when the personalities come out and they will stay out for a few hours or even a few months or even a year. If I did not personally know her I would think that DID didnt exist at all and it was just people with a different mental illness being influenced by therapist or psychiatrists to believe they have numerous personalities.

Dr kk Thank you for re-stating the experience of those “faking mental illness” as horrific. Even completely sane people (the saner, the more difficult it seemed to be) who attempted to unmask doctors were instead held captives-even after explaining they were simply doing an immersive experiment. Nice try, lab rats. They had a heck of a time getting released.

I shadowed a clinical psychologist and saw a woman write separate paragraphs with each of her hands in different yet perfect handwriting while carrying on a conversation as usual and practically not realizing she was writing, not even looking down. She originally had been referred when she had moved across the country and lost touch with her family, then moving back months later completely confused and scared. I do think DID is perhaps too publicized and overdiagnosed, but I now certainly believe it exists.

Well hysteria, as a psychiatric disorder, isn't really a thing nowadays. Now it usually falls under other diagnosis. However, on Freuds time, when hysterics was a common diagnosis, there were some male cases even though the diagnosis of females was much more frequent. Read his Studies on Hysteria for more information.

As someone currently studying Psychology (and thinking of pursuing Psychiatry), I found this “Dr.” incredibly inappropriate. The exact reason why people refuse to get the help they need (and deserve). You should be able to trust and confide in your doctor unapologetically without their personal interference and vendettas. This is so frustrating to me.

Today all you have to tell your ‘md’ is that you are tired and don’t feel well, your very basic bloodwork doesn’t show anything, and you are sent to the psychiatrist quack! You are put on meds that really make you feel and act crazy!! When you tell them that you feel worse, they just add more pills!!! You become a psycho or a zombie!!! I have no respect for the medical community!!! You have a real illness and they don’t even look for it!!! It is your diet, hormones, or something else! Doctors don’t look farther than drugs, It doesn’t matter which branch, They are only after money!!!!! Doctors used to want to actually heal their patients, not just drug the illnesses away!!!! I wish our country would turn back to taking care of each other and not so much emphasis on how much you earn!!!
